Tyson fans who still think Tyson will K.O Holyfield in the 80s or early 90s is so delusional, they always give an argument "is because tyson more past prime when they fight". BULLSHEET!!! Holyfield suffer from multiple war, loses, heart problem and Hepatitis in before the tyson fight, how can tyson be the one who is "more past prime"??

Tyson is so one dimensional and doesn't have the mentality to be Great fighter.

ive always felt evander would have beaten any version of Tyson. too much heart and determination. Tyson didn't do so well when opponents refused to be bullied

Holmes probably comes in below those guys. But the fact is and this is why Tyson was regarded as such a beast at the time and even now, it's because he annihilated guys, he decimated them. Apart from Bones...who else truly tested him? Yeah some guys took him rounds but Mike toyed with those fools.

These weren't great opponents but Tyson showed his greatness, he was clearly 3 or 4 levels above these guys, which is why he gets labeled a great.
spinks very well might have been his best opponent. spinks totally fought the wrong fight trying to slug it out with Tyson. I don't know why he didn't box patiently like he did with cooney and wait for an opening. its almost like he didn't believe he could pull it off over the long haul and looked for an easy way out by slugging when he knows he was never that type of heavyweight

Yeah. You could call it a bad match, because there really are only a handful of guys that could stand up to the intimidation factor....let alone the punishment he'd bring.

          Holy clearly one of them.

And if you give credit where it's due....Tyson fought a great series against Holy himself. Talk about UNDERRATED brutality between those two. Especially leading up to the ear bite.

That very moment when Tyson spit his ear out and gestured waiving him in....they fought like a pier 6 street fight.

          Those two were something else.

I think Tyson would beat Holyfield 92 or previous, but not for the reason that he was more shot at all.

I think he would have because Holyfield was not strong enough to do what he did to Tyson when they did fight. Fact!

Spinks was DEFINITELY NOT his best win.

Spinks was one of the most mismatched opponents ever, pretty much on par with Patterson getting matched with Liston!

He was dead the moment he stepped into the ring.

Considering 80's Mike, his best "on the night opponent" was Douglas who beat him, even though this was early 1990. But Douglas was overall not very good. He had glimmers of Rid**** Bowe that night.

Tyson's best prime opponent might be considered to be Tony Tucker.

Personally, although this might not be shared widely and he knocked him out in the 2nd round, I think the best opponent for Tyson might have been Tony Tubbs.

Tubbs, an overall good and strong fighter, took the fight to Tyson and did actually relatively well, winning the 1st round even and looked good in the 2nd too. Of course after he took a few good ones in the 2nd he knew all about it and went down there but still, for me that was better than Tucker not really engaging as much. Atleast Tubbs had the tools to and used them as well, to be offensive with Mike Tyson.

You clearly didn't read the thread main info and you just read the subject header.

It's always fun asking Tyson fans, which/how many great names has Mike ever beaten to be considered so great.

True lol, I just never expected to be called a troll for asking I expected some answer haha

Well I've got some though so most seem to agree Spinks is the best win who wasn't really a natural heavyweight, more of a light heavyweight (he wasn't that big) whilst he was a talented boxer he stepped into an era which was going to be full of big men.

I mean Tyson did outweigh this guy and Spinks is considerably taller than him.

I stick by Larry Holmes at 38yo, Its an iconic name on the list and an actual natural heavyweight.
