^^ that was one of the last ones they did like that as those organizations have folded. This one had kickboxing and MMA and a circus event called the Super Hulk tournament because Japan loves man vs MONSTER matches. I suppose this event could incorporate traditional boxing along with the kickboxing and/or MMA because Japan love Gold Medal Olympians whether they be from Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Wrestling or boxing so Rigo will be well received over there as they are very, very well-informed.
I don't know if the Rigo fight will be stand alone but I tend to doubt it when they could tie it in to something much bigger if they so chose and they manage to do these events every NYE no matter who has gone out of business ~ don't ask me how lol (Japanese mafia???) . . . that is how strong the fighting sport NYE tradition is in JapanComment

Japan on NYE is a combats sports extravaganza/tradition my friend. I remember when we got HDNET back in 2009 when Verizon cable service came to town. They spend crazy $$$ over there and the events start at 3.a.m Eastern US time but go on until 10 in the damn morning!!
They make like a festival of fighting with MMA and kickboxing matches mixed in on the card. There is unbelievable pageantry and build up throughout the night like nothing we do over here at Las Vegas or Los Angeles. There is usually a big tournament with like 8 contestants, one of whom is the main draw as they compete for a huge throphy and cash prize. Here in the US those tournaments are illegal but in Japan they are everything and they absolutely love combat sports on NYE . . . its like they save up all year for it
Check out this COLOSSAL NYE combat sports event: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamite!!_2009
Here is the actual event in its entirety (All 7.5 hours!!!) for those boxing diehards who have some curiosity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McBn5qFlnaw
Here in the US we don't have such a NYE tradition as they do in Japan where huge money and no expense is spared for combat sports for that annual event.Comment

Here is some more info about the event in Japan on NYE!!
I hope he makes good impression over there and comes out with an explosive victory . . . they love the sweet science and the technical aspects of fighting over in Japan but from the black fighters they usually love the explosive finishes. If he can close the show in a dominate fashion they will surely bring him back for future events as most of the popular boxers in that nation are physically small people like him

Thanks for the assist friend.
Just skip ahead to the 15:30 mark for the opening ceremony and explosive intro. I really hope that this NYE event goes all out like the one posted here from 2009. I guess we will get more details about how many fights and what kind of fights are going to be held in the coming weeks. My best guess would be MMA and kickboxing then boxing featuring Rigo as the wildcard draw. There could be as over a dozen matches overall as the Japanese hold these NYE combat sport shows for like 8 hours
