Best of luck to Rigo and his career. I hope he makes a **** load of money fighting contenders or even bums because all the other so called champs dont want none. HBO has a lot to answer for. They should be ashamed of themselves.Comment

look its been said a million times. guys in the lower weights dont make the big paydays, they gottta go with what their manager tells them, not worry about legacy. Give Donaire credit for fighting him and Walters when Nonito clearly had enough clout to keep ducking and milking his winning streak. Donaire basically ruined his career to please you dumb fans.
Rigo should stay where he's at because he's clearly the best defensive boxer, why get knocked out like Nonito moving up in weight SMHComment

coulda been worse. Amagasa is ranked in the top ten by all four sanctioning bodies at 126. And he'll be the bigger man on fight night no question. Probably Rigo's sternest test since beating Donaire.Comment

Japan on NYE is a combats sports extravaganza/tradition my friend. I remember when we got HDNET back in 2009 when Verizon cable service came to town. They spend crazy $$$ over there and the events start at 3.a.m Eastern US time but go on until 10 in the damn morning!!Sheeeeeesh!!!! $500K to fight an unkown fighter in a foreign country. Santa Cruz got $750K to fight Roman on a Mayweather undercard in Vegas.
Great to see the champ back, but he should have tried to reach an agreement to fight in Miami. Im sure Amagasa would travel for some extra money. Team Riggobdeaux really need to test the Miami market and see if he would sell as they say he would.
They make like a festival of fighting with MMA and kickboxing matches mixed in on the card. There is unbelievable pageantry and build up throughout the night like nothing we do over here at Las Vegas or Los Angeles. There is usually a big tournament with like 8 contestants, one of whom is the main draw as they compete for a huge throphy and cash prize. Here in the US those tournaments are illegal but in Japan they are everything and they absolutely love combat sports on NYE . . . its like they save up all year for it
Check out this COLOSSAL NYE combat sports event: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamite!!_2009
Here is the actual event in its entirety (All 7.5 hours!!!) for those boxing diehards who have some curiosity: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McBn5qFlnaw
Here in the US we don't have such a NYE tradition as they do in Japan where huge money and no expense is spared for combat sports for that annual event.Last edited by Young Herschel; 11-18-2014, 07:45 PM.Comment

Wow! Just checked the links and it is a Huge event. I guess it will be a good look for Rigondeaux. 37,000 people attended the 2009 event so I wonder if it has become bigger. I did notice all the fights were MMA though. Is it a combo of all combat sports?Japan on NYE is a combats sports extravaganza/tradition my friend.
