Fighting the very dangerous Kovalev was done partially out of necessity to avoid being stripped, and partially for the glory of breaking a record. The old man survived and even landed a couple of shots, but he took some big shots himself. Continuing to call out these young sluggers is going to catch up to him, and he may get hurt. At some point, the quest for glory becomes an unecessary risk. If Bhop gets permanently damaged, the same people saying he should go for it now, will be the ones asking why he didn't stop sooner.

GGG: "I do want to fight you."
Ward: "Well you can't, cus I'm not ready yet."Comment

I really wanted to see GGG-Hopkins, when the possibility of it was first mentioned after Hopkins-Cloud fight. But after Kovalev fight, I would not like for Hopkins to go straight to GGG and then call it a day. Hopkins should first restore his luster as an elite fighter by beating Stevenson, Chavez Jr or Carl Froch. Stevenson and Chavez Jr. are Haymon clients, so probably not possible. But Froch is a winnable fight for Hopkins. Then the interest in GGG fight would be there yet again.Comment

Forget Ward... Look hereunder:

Trainer: Golovkin Willing To Do Advanced Drug Testing
... GGG would “be absolutely willing” to undergo more advanced drug testing than has been required of him. (...)
“But just for Golovkin to do it and the other guy not to have to do it, I think that’s unfair,” Sanchez said.
THESE SAID, I DON'T THINK THAT ANDRE WARD WOULD WANT TO FIGHT gOLOVKIN ANYMORE... WHAT DO YOU THINK?Comment

Pretty pathetic GGG is going after a 50 year-old semi retired ex champion who put on a terrible performance with Kovalev. Don't mind GGG wanting Floyd, Canelo, and Cotto more than Ward but come on? A Hopkins KO does nothing for him.Comment
