It's a ****** myth that people wouldn't like a white heavyweight champion when history has proved that white heavyweights, regardless of nationality have always been extremely popular. This goes all the way back to John l Sullivan, James J Jeffries, Jimmy Braddock, George Carpentier all the way to Henry Cooper, Jerry Quarry and Gerry Cooney.

It's simply a very uneducated and hateful excuse to use, when you can't fathom how some people do not find it attractive having two big guys in the middle of the ring without headmovement, no footwork with both of their hands in the air almost like this:

Before one of them lands a jab.
It has nothing to do with nationality or colour and saying so is completely ******. A guy like GGG is from the same part of the world, but extremely popular. Why is that? Kovalev? Kostya Tszuy?

How come these guys were popular?
Every opponent that Wlad faces gets discredited. You should know that by looking at the boards often.

I'm not embarrassing myself one bit. Race/color/flag/etc has a lot to do with boxing. If he wasn't interesting to watch, he wouldn't keep selling out places in the area that he boxes in. Hopkins, Floyd, Mosley and others can clinch 3 times and call it sweet science and if Wlad does the same 3 clinches, he's boring.

Since you're putting history and some of those white boxers....you should know that a lot of white boxers at the time didn't want to give a black boxer his shot at the title. Same applies to black boxers only fighting white. Those boxers weren't popular with blacks at the time.
Far from uneducated and hateful. You're just being super defensive at the truth. If it was completely false, then there goes a lot of the credit for Johnson's win over Jefferies, Louis' win over Shmelling, etc.

Wlad has good footwork. Can you tell me who moves better than Wlad being around the same weight?

Explaining to a peachy keen yuppie looking guy from the UK that the US isn't a statistically "white" country anymore, how thick the resentment is in boxing, and why Wlad isn't as beloved as a white HW champion would have been in the 1950s.... We could be in for a long thread.

Lets just say Wlad is about beloved by a certain very large boxing audience as that one dog eating ping pong dude is.

Lol that is the truth. I love how suddenly these powder fists who fight like rockem sockem robots become champions when they are fighting Vlad.

Anyone with any common sense could ask what Pulev could possibly do to Vlad. Outpoint him? Not anymore active than Vlad is really. Knock him out? yeah when pigs could fly...so naturally people like New England who should know better break out the "gee Vlad takes the punches of a 250 pound man!!" GIVE ME A BREAK!!! ayy Marie! Ridiculous. Pulev and his lot, all the Eastern Euro guys who fight like Olympic hopefuls, were made to be hugged, abused and Kayoed.

What are you talking about? First off, please don't compare guys like Floyd and Mosley to Wlad and his clinching. There's simply no comparison.

Guys like Hopkins despite breaking numerous records has never been a fan favourite, never been a PPV success and never really been a consistent PPV fighter and has flopped massively everytime except when fighting guys like ODLH or Tito. So what's your case for this? nobody has ever called Hopkins stylistically interesting or must watch TV - because he's boring. Same with Andre Ward - we all appreciate he's very good, but no one is really interested in watching him fight.

Hopkins has been on PPV in America because he's American and people tend to like their own. A question must then be asked, why is Klitschko not on PPV in Ukraine, Germany or Russia or somewhere he's supposed to be super popular?

I didn't really understand your last sentence, it was kind of incoherent. But I know all about Jack Johnson travelling to Australia to see Tommy Burns, and Jeffries the great white hope coming out after 5 years retirement weighing 300+ pounds and getting 6 months to get ready. I don't really understand what your point here is?

As I told you, historically, a white champion has always been a fan favourite. And I ask you again, how come eastern european fighters like Kostya Tszuy, GGG, Kovalev, Provodnikov, Beterbiev are all must watch fighters and generally pretty popular?

Why are people not hating on their race?

You literally are too naive if you think people dislike Wlad because he's white or Ukranian or whatever. It's because he's a 6'6 muscle bound, 250 lbs machine who still fights safety first even when he meets a 210 lb 6'1 non power fighter. That's not intriguing to boxing fans.

I agree Wlad has good footwork and I think he's an excellent fighter. Not must watch at all, but he's obviously better than everyone else. With regards to the bad footwork and skills, it was geared toward Pulev, not Wlad. I probably should have made that clearer.

Nah....Elroy just has Down's syndrome and Vlad signed his boxing teddy bear. What is scary is that there are posters who should know better...you would think that Pulov was an intimidating compitant fighter or something. Vlad's management team is good though, whether ducking a manditory or claiming a UPS driver is a mandatory...They manage to make sure Vlad avoids the dangerous guys and any guys capable of pressing the action and the young lions. Then they tell us the next powder fist is a dangerous opponent!

it looked like a joke at times. the fight was actually entertaining, i will give wlad props there. but damn..

pulev literally looks like he has been boxing for a week. the first lesson of boxing is to keep your chin down, thats first 5 minutes of the first day type ****.

his guard was terrible, his footwork and head movement none existent. what is he supposed to know exactly? because i saw jack ****.

wlad looked bad too, at one point pulev popped him with a jab on the nose and wlad acted like he got hit with a baseball bat. laughable..

If Boneclutcher got lucky and bum rushed him he could have ko'd him. Otherwise he would have been broken down and ko'd. This nonesense talk of past era fighters beating him badly is nonsense. Go on Youtube and watch the terrible title fights between various "top contenders" and tell me with a straight face that Pinklon Thomas could have beaten Wlad. He couldn't even beat a mediocre Berbick. Also fighters from that era were tiny compared to now. Larry Holmes was 212 pounds and had a height and reach advantage on most opponents, against Wlad he would be crushed on size alone.

I had a laugh as well. I believe it was the round with all the KDs.
It saved Pulev from getting laid out later on in that round, dude was standing there dazed with his chin in the air, Wlad perfectly lined up to land the right and he held back because of that jab.
I had another laugh then changed the channel.
