It's laughable that you would even bring up Ruiz as Tucker was clearly not the same as he was at his best.

It's abit disappointing to see "fans" go in hard at Wlad like this. It's unfair he gets all this stick, people need to face the facts, he is almost touching 40' has a substantial amount of KO wins in his victories and keeping in top condition all year round. I don't care if he's on HGH or whatever so are many other HW's. The simple reasoning behind all the hate he receives is due to his nationality. Had he been American so many of you would be sucking his left bollock. Let it go the guys a legend, it's not his fault every up and coming HW is disposed of by him in ordinary fashion.

The short left hook he was throwing was a thing of beauty, 9/10 top boxers would be floored by that.

I'm not giving Wladimir a hard time I gave him credit for his win, I was just stating that he would not have faired well in the 90's.

I've not singled out anyone. I think with what Wlad knows now had he fought in that era he would have done just fine. People seem to forget he is a big strong unit himself and with his ring IQ and understanding of his own punch resistance he would fight safe at all times.

It's not feasible to compare todays HWs to those of yesteryear nobody knows what would happen, in this brutal sport one punch changes everything especially in this weight class. We should appreciate this rather than slate it because when he retires you are all going to be left with the likes of Windmill Wilder and Cruiserweight Cunningham, oh and let's not forget Fatboy Fury.

First off, many of the people in this thread say Pulev was bad, not Wlad.

Second of all, you're embarrassing yourselves bringing race and colour into it. The main reason people don't like Wlad is because he's not very interesting to watch, most of the times.

It's a ****** myth that people wouldn't like a white heavyweight champion when history has proved that white heavyweights, regardless of nationality have always been extremely popular. This goes all the way back to John l Sullivan, James J Jeffries, Jimmy Braddock, George Carpentier all the way to Henry Cooper, Jerry Quarry and Gerry Cooney.

It's simply a very uneducated and hateful excuse to use, when you can't fathom how some people do not find it attractive having two big guys in the middle of the ring without headmovement, no footwork with both of their hands in the air almost like this:

Before one of them lands a jab.
It has nothing to do with nationality or colour and saying so is completely ******. A guy like GGG is from the same part of the world, but extremely popular. Why is that? Kovalev? Kostya Tszuy?

How come these guys were popular?

I was just watching some of my old Tony Tucker tapes and I don't think a lot of people realize how good he was. Very underrated fighter that had the skills and movement to beat Wladimir.

I didn't mention skin colour, I simply stated his nationality. How can people not like GGG he's going about knocking people out left right alongside Kovalev but people still dislike them using the "who has GGG fought" and the minute he loses "just another hyped up one dimensional Russian". Whether people like to admit it or not Wlad gets allot of slack due to his nationality, the fact he is an overseas Champion who remains there hurts certain people, I've seen it in general conversation here in England, and btw I'm not white so that's not the reason why I'm defending him.
