Kovalev is just more powerful. Pascal is not in his comfort zone with the change from GYM to interbox.

New guy around... So Hello !

I haven't seen it mentioned here but Beterbiev has beaten Kovalev two time in the amateurs ... Two times... And Kovalev was already top level at the time... Berterbiev is even more compact than Kovalev as a boxer, in the purest Russian / East Block tradition...

The way he bullied Cloud in the the first round trapping him in the corner was something to see... The guy's a a beast and if Kovalev make it through Pascal and Adonis, be sure he's gonna use all of his options before meeting him... Berterbiev is the last boxer Kovalev wants to face on a ring... period...

As for the fight here, I believe Pascal is gonna give Kovalev a dog fight... Might even be an upset given an early shaking from Pascal... Kovalev has never faced a boxer like Pascal who will be all over Kovalev in the first rounds, shooting from impossible angles and strangely hitting the target... Pascal has chin, has never been KO'd and in my mind is faster than the Russian... It's his biggest task to date... Could be the fight of the year right there...

That said, I still believe Kovalev is a better boxer overall, and he should win by majority decision...

Hello & welcome. My understanding is that Beterbiev beat Kovalev once in the amateurs in a close fight, and then another time in a behind closed doors fight with the Russian team.

I've seen Kova asked about Beterbiev, I don't really think he cares who he fights. He seems like an "eff it, whatever, let's do it" kind of bloke.

I too think it'll be a tough fight for Kovalev, particularly early on. Wouldn't shock me at all to see Kova hit the canvas. I do expect him to win though.

not seen a ton of pascal fights, he appears to have a very good chin, i just hope this fight is half as good as froch v pascal, that was a WAR.
if he can take froch's best punches can he take kovalevs?

That was a different version of Froch, if they fought again Froch would stop him early.

I personally don't think he's anywhere near ready for Kovalev. The amateur fights mean absolutely nothing.
