all the guys predicting hopkins UD win

let me ask you a question here newbie.... what do you think would be a realistic scenario, a fighter who has never been knocked out in his entire career getting knocked out, or a fighter who has never fought anyone being outboxed to a decision win by a fighter who has defied the odds for many many years????? tell me what would be the logical choice here?
It's pretty simple really, if you look at hopkins career, what BIG punchers has he fought?
there is an argument for 1 or 2 at lower weights.
Now kovalev, like i said yesterday is a very good patient technical boxer who just happens to be a beast.
As for fighting 'nobody' that's debatable, in his past 4 fights he has gone into the backyard of unbeaten world champions and BEASTED them..he has knocked out unbeaten fighters with JABS, they were not big names or elite fighters correct, but that is the same argument as GGG.
no one wants to fight them for a very good reason.Comment

Obviously seen him before and have seen Hopkins before as well. He boxed pretty well but it was just that his power and reach were too much for Hopkins. The Alien didn't let his hands go enough to do real damage. Even so, he still marked up the Krusher's face a bit. Taking nothing away from the Krusher, it was a great win.Comment

no, no, no kova by knockout was the majority pick here... posters with a logical choice went with hopkins by decision....and i was one of them....now kova proved alot to me and he gets full credit from me despite hopkins age because bhop was still fighting at the highest level and beating fighters twice his age...so theres no point to this thread reallyComment

No, I picked Kovalev by KO but I also said Kova would outbox Hopkins if the ref kept them apart.but what is the logical choice here, a hopkins ud, or a kovalev ko against a fighter who has never been knocked out in his entire career???? you went with kova by decision, so obviously you knew something more then what the 267 posters who picked kova to knock out bhop, am i right?
I got the result wrong but the essence of the fight correct.
There's no shame in betting wrong on a fight, but the people who stereotyped Kovalev as Murat 2.0 because they completely ignore boxing outside of the US need to repent.Comment

^ exactly.
If its not in the u.s they dont know about it yet still spout their uninformed opinion, same with brook v porter. there was about 5 people on here who actually said brook even had a chance to win...
I dont see how its 'logical' hopkins would win, it clearly was logical that he would get stopped / beaten up and it was a complete mismatch, which is what it proved to be.Comment

cmon big punchers??? that would mean boxers with a 50% or higher ko ratio... lets see, roy jones, robert allen, zungando mercado, antwan echols, keith holmes????, felix trinidad, william joppy, osacar de la hoya, jermain taylor, winky wright, kelly pavlik, joe calzaghe????, chad dawson, tavoris cloud, jean pascal, all fighters with high ko pecentages, not like kova but these guys are real punchers so to say he has only fought 1 or 2 punchers is all he has faced is real inexperiance on your part in the sport of boxing and in bhops career in general... and thats a no, no especially when you try to make threads about it...Last edited by LouIE G; 11-09-2014, 10:07 AM.Comment

you obviously dont know what the *** you are talking about because everyone i stated were punchers in there own right with 50% or higher... and most of them were picked at the time of their fights with hopkins to ko him, so you obviously dont know shiat about boxing and should not make threads without the proper knowledge.... just stop you look sillyComment

lol.....did he really get "beaten up" though? Hopkins' face looked better than Kovalev's face in the end. The guy took a few shots and wasn't active enough to put points in the bank. When Kova is destroying all other opponents and has to go 12 rounds (the first time past 8 in his career) against a 49 year old man, I would not really call that a beating. If anything, Hopkins gave Kovalev the toughest fight of his career.^ exactly.
