Khan took Zab's IBF belt in Vegas. Before Khan Ko'd him Zab only had one other loss at 140 lbs, the infamous "don't ever play with matches" affair w/ Tzu from way back in 2001. Zab was easily top 5 at 140 back in 2011, coming off wins vs Matthyse and Mabuza (remember Mabuza stopped Kendall Holt to get that belt, same guy Danny squeaked by), and Garcia was not on the map at the time. Bradley, Khan, Alexander, and Maidana were the big 4 at 140 at the time. Zab easily had the number 5 spot because he had a belt, hadn't lost at 140 in almost a decade, and was coming off a decent win streak.

I pick Khan to beat Brook, but I also think he is intimidated by Brook's size. I think Virgil wants Khan to wait for a bit until he grows into a big WW. Khan came in at 160 for the Alexander fight, his heaviest ever. After the fight Virgil said he wants Khan to come in at 165 for his next fight.

I don't like the ducking, but I do think Khan's chances of winning increase if he takes time to grow a bit more.

Khan already had a belt when he took Judah's in 2011, I understand your point but it is not quite the same thing.

I don't think Khan will ever come in at 165 for a WW fight, Brook carries the weight much better, at 165 Khan will be slower.

Personally I think the clock is running down a lot faster for Khan than Brook at the moment. Many people are getting increasingly tired of Khan's reluctance to fight a WW with real power, not just a blown up LWW like Alexander or Algieri.

Wupti do Judah hadn't lost at that weight Maybe because he didn't fight there? He still had something like 7 losses and a couple of KO losses. He robbed Matthysse - let's not forget - and well done bigging up Mabuza. He was nothing short of 100% average.

Also, Judah wasn't easily top 5. That's just not true and it was a vacant belt he had won.

Alexander is not a blown up LWW, he has been LWW since the amatuers and he naturally outgrew the division and looks solid at WW, still ripped. Now if you look at RIOS on the other hand he looks flabby, fat slow now thats a blown up lightweight if I've ever seen one and its Kells next fight! Whoopy can't wait for that one :/. Algierie is 5'10 and a big guy, he wanted the pac fight to be at 147 but was held at 143 due to Pac wanting it to be there for his comfort.

I just can't agree with you.

If you seriously think that Alexander and Algieri are a serious threat at 147 to any belt holder you are clearly insane.

Put Khan in with Thurman - if he is a contender for a belt he should school him.

Brook is selling himself very short by fighting Gavin and Rios, but Khan is doing the very same thing - avoiding high risk / high reward fights.

Only difference is - Khan has just ducked Brook (and Bradley).

I'd say because Alvarado was not himself that night which is clear as day. This made Rios look like a mix between Tyson and Sweet Pea. Now if Rios could do that against a game Alvarado or a better opponent then yeh I'd give Rios his props.

Overall Khan has a better resume than Brook.

That cannot be debated.

But...

If you take BOTH Khan's and Porter last few fights and next fight - then there is not a huge difference in the quality of their respective opposition.

It's okay to split hairs about who beat who, and when they did it but the fact remains NEITHER have fought anyone near the best in the division.

Finally,

Brook deserves props for winning a belt in the USA - Khan never did this.

And Diaz put Khan down, hard...

He won the IBF Junior Welterweight Title in the USA.

There's no splitting hairs. Like I said, it's not a debate.

Khan ducking Brook doesn't suddenly make Brook's resume better. Brook's resume is Shawn Porter. That's it.

No, because we know from Eddie Hearn he turned down Diego Chaves, Sadaam Ali, Josesito Lopez and even a Porter rematch. As for the August fight he could have fought Timmothy Bradley or Keith Thurman. At this stage they're both ducking threats, Khan wants may-pac winner, Kell wants Khan payday. The difference is Khan actually has been through some top notch world class opposition fought over 11 world champions whilst Kell has only fought Shawn Porter and thats it and he's 1 year older.

He didn't "turn down" any of those fights. They were options and Gavin made the most sense because he's a Brit.

Timothy Bradley is going to be fighting some Top Rank in house fight in June. Keith Thurman is probably going to fight Brook's leftovers, Porter in June. Rios is a good fight commercially for Brook as he has a decent following in America and will make for an exciting fight.

Chris Algieri just makes absolutely no sense for Khan. Amir should have tried to fight Rios if he was going to duck Brook. Algieri is a better fighter IMO but it does nothing for Khan considering the last thing people remember him for is getting whitewashed by Pacquiao - I know the same happened to Rios but he has since come back with a win that has impressed the casuals.
