I've already said, commercially the Rios fight makes perfect sense for Brook. Exciting style, decent Mexican fanbase, will probably make Brook look good. So yes agreed....obviously Rios is a better choice of opponent for those reasons.

But he's not a better fighter than Devon Alexander. I don't even think he's better than Chris Algieri. He's more well known and commercially better - that's it.

Frankie Gavin and "bringing money" should never really be used in the same sentence. That's ludicrous. Khan will probably get in the region of $1-2million for his next fight.
Good, then we agree. I don't think it's a given that Alexander would beat Rios - it would actually be an interesting fight. The winner of that might squeak back into the top 10.

I think Rios would beat Algieri. But you never know before they actually fight.

Yeah but Khan is bringing 100% of that money to the table himself. If he fought Gavin in the UK it would be Sky PPV and Khan would undoubtedly make more + he gets US TV as well.

I never at any point said Gavin was a better fighter than Algieri.

Khan-Gavin wouldn't be a stand alone PPV and no broadcaster in America would buy that fight.

If American TV would show Brook-Gavin or Brook-Dan then they would also show Khan-Gavin. Let's be real here.

Maybe it wouldn't stand alone - but after a little Hearn angeldust and a Quigg fight here and a Joshua fight there, it would very quickly be PPV with Khan as the obvious draw.

So you think Khan would make $1-2million to fight Frankie Gavin?

I think I need to leave this thread for my own sanity.

          • Rios is awful. He wouldn't beat Alexander or Algieri. Are people forgetting that Chavez pretty much beat him and he beat a drugged up zombie in his last fight. Algieri would beat him convincingly, Provodnikov has faster hands and more power than Rios but couldn't land anything significant from round 2 onwards.

Khan was making that fighting Julio Diaz on boxnation

So why not on Sky PPV?

                  • Rios is a bum plain and simple. No other way to slice or dice it. His game plan is to out will his opponents and when that doesn't work he gets the Richard Abril treatment. Rich man's John Murray.

Look at the khantards coming out and talking about a fight that happened years ago in a division Rios clearly outgrew.

"Abril won every round" Jesus, I doubt any of you guys ever saw the freaking fight. It was a close fight with many rounds difficult to score. I agree Abril won, but it wasn't a whitewash.

Rios is still a better fight than Alexander, and that's what matters.
