hopkins was CLEARLY hurt in the twelfth midway and never recovered

and in some other rd too, might've been a couple of times actually

... but Kov still didn't want to finish him up, though... Kov was a gentlemen in this one...

I think he was hurt but not on "***** street". I see a qualitative difference. He was not wobbling around on his feet. He didn't drop and then struggle to get up and barely beat the count. Those are what other Kovalev opponents have done. Hopkins did not wobble, even though I think he was hurt. At the end of the fight, he seemed OK.

he wasn't wobbling around khan style because he wasn't hopping around

he was badly hurt, look at the way his body waves, no reflexes, weak all over, he was almost about to be out on his feet in those last 15 seconds

Kov did come with the declared intention to outbox B-Hop... Kov didn't come in this fight aiming to ruin and actually destroy a "legend"...

              • I will never root for a fighter that throws less than 20 punches per round. BHop needs to retire. Even if he fights the senior circuit in Eastern Europe, who would pay to see even a legend throw 15 punches a round?

I just went back to look at it and although I know you won't agree. I don't think he was as badly hurt as you say he was. Kovalev stepped up the pressure and was throwing more trying to get B-Hop out in the 12th. The punches that he landed were deflected a lot by B-Hops gloves and B-Hop was moving with them. That was his method to diminish the power of the punches. It is like the old adage of the willow bending with the wind and oak that tries to stand firm breaks quicker.

When the bell sounded I looked at his face and he seemed very clear headed.

                    • That fight will provide some good gifs... There were a few punches that Kovalev just slammed directly through Bernard's guard with zero resistance. I wasn't sold on his power being truly freakish before. I thought it had more to do with accuracy or just timing his opponents breaths or whatever... But he really is freakishly strong.
