Comments Thread For: Hernandez: Golovkin Knocks Canelo Out in Three

Veteran trainer Rudy Hernandez predicts an easy victory for WBA/IBO/WBC-interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28KOs) - if he steps in the ring with Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs).

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has stated in several interviews that Canelo is more than willing to face Golovkin. Both boxers have exclusive contracts with HBO. Canelo will return in May, hoping to get Miguel Cottto. And Golovkin will take on Martin Murray in February.

I've been telling people, GGG would give Canelo a savage beating. Canelo has pride, so expect him to exchange... which will help him catch serious damage. He doesn't see past the 4th round.

I didn't see him stop Rosado, Adama or Stevens in 3 rounds. This Hernandez guy is saying Canelo is not in the same level as GGG but he disrespects him by sticking him together with Rubio, Ishida, Macklin, Geale. Canelo's has better skills than GGG, that's how he'd win. But GGG may be too big, that's the only thing that stops me from going with Canelo 100%.

Hernandez highly overestimates GGG camp's ability to bribe Canelo into taking a dive like they did with Rubio. This isn't some bum looking for coke money. This is Canelo Alvarez one of the biggest stars in the game and certainly the future king of PPV once Manny retires.

canelo's lack of footspeed will be his downfall against GGG.

What makes you think Canelo is more skilled than Golovkin?

If (and hopefully when) this fight happens, I have GGG winning for sure, probably by stoppage. That being said I think Canelo will make it deeper in the fight then just three rounds. Canelo is a warrior who would never pull a Rubio, if he can physically keep fighting he will IMO. I can see a scenario where Chepo ends up throwing in the towel to save Canelo from the beating he's taking after it's clear he's not gonna win.
