He's worth whatever someone is willing to pay him
Arum offered him multiple offers. You don't get guaranteed millions just to walk - if that's a business model that you think will work long-term, that's fine.
Arum is making an investment, he's trying to get a return on his investment. If you offer his company an opportunity to make a return on the initial investment, then you'll get the big payout. If not, then he's getting a small-payout and he can walk. It is what it is.
Has any company you ever worked for just offered you free bonuses, such as sign-on bonuses without some sort of contract or extension? I know personally, I've been given 3 sign-on bonuses in my career. One of which was with the Air Force and the other two in the private sector, they each came with stipulations. It is what it is bro. It's not about promoter vs boxer, it's about making smart choices with your money. Arum isn't in the business of giving some pot-head with discipline issues a cool 10M dollars just for him to walk.
Arum's business model depends on making the right investments with the right fighters that can be molded into money making machines in the future. He front loads and invests in the prospects and guides them into what he hopes can turn into a profit generating product.
Arum is constantly doing a Cost Benefit Analysis - hopefully Chavez is tooComment

Arum went to Harvard and got the best lawyers money can buy
If he says JCC Jr owes him one more fight than thats what it is
I see JCC Jr sitting out for a long time like the Ward situation
That sucks cuz I wanna see him vs Froch and I think Froch is gonna retire in 1-2 yearsComment

He's more than willing to honor the last fight on the deal; he's just not going to be stolen from in doing it.I feel for Bob, Jr is an ungrateful bastard. I like Chavez man, but I have to side with Bob here. He needs to honor his contract, he still owes TR one fight. Bob did a lot for him, regardless of how many times Chavez disappointed and let him down. He got him the big fights and Jr didn't do his part when it came to training and preparing himself. No surprise to find out Haymon is involved, Bob predicted this a while ago.
Chavez Jr-Golovkin, as the fight is rightfully to be marketed, is a fight that would easily generate $20m in net revenues (PPV money, strong Latino gate money, Mexico TV rights, sponsors, etc).
Bob Arum was going to pay Chavez Jr $3m for the single fight, with Chavez Jr not making any more money on the fight, according to his manager, unless the fight did over 450k PPV buys, which is a stretch.
What was so wrong with Arum sticking with the $7m offer for the fight? Chavez is sharp enough to have good people around him, making sure that he just does't get played.Comment

Chavez Jr and his camp did a little Cost Benefit Analysis themselves; they've taken the measure of Arum's offer, decided to pass on the offers and have decided to simply sit out the end of the Top Rank contract, letting that final final fight go unused. He's worth whatever someone is willing to pay him

Chavez Jr thinks that the contract was up September 2014, while Top Rank thinks it's up October 2015; either way, Chavez Jr is still only 28 years of age, with 50 pro fights to his name and near no amateur boxing career wear on his body.
Even if he has to wait till October 2015, he'd only be 29 years of age, free from promotional obligations, with a name that immediately puts him into the top 5 of marketable fighters at super middleweight.
Unless Jr and his camp determine that the time is of deep worth to him, Top Rank has made the last money that they'll ever make off of Chavez Jr, unless they start to use the "Chavez" name to try and then sell Gilberto Ramirez as something special.Comment

Bob keeps trying to force him to extend his contract. Hes dirty. Chavez has been trying to leave him for years. Even going back to the martinez fight, he was almost done with Top Rank, but Arum gave him ultimatum: extend contract or no Martinez fight.Comment
