Because he's honored his contract and they should do the same? Besides, I never heard Arum claim Chavez wanted too much. In fact, according to Bob they offered him the moon. What Chavez didn't want was an extension and he never got an offer to fight without one so who was doing the dishonorable thing? He has one fight on his contract, let him do that without trying to enslave him for more fights. He wanted a huge purse w/ zero contract extensions for GGG
Why would TR pay a huge purse/guarantee for a guy who would walk. Chavez didn't want the short money, he wanted long money to just walk. I wouldn't pay him either.
TR needs to offer him 25K to fight the 160lb version of Rob Salka and keep it pushing. They'll survive w/o Chavez Jr.Comment

He has one fight on his contract, let him do that without trying to enslave him for more fights.http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id...golovkin-talksOriginally posted by Bob ArumArum said he relented on insisting on the extension and instead presented Chavez with two proposals. Under one proposal, Chavez would earn a certain amount of money to fight Golovkin without an extension. He would earn far more for the fight if he accepted the proposal with the extension.
"But what Chavez wants is the bigger purse without the futures," Arum said. "Why would we take a risk losing money on the fight with Golovkin and then we lose the kid as well? If we can make money and then he wants to go on his way, OK. But he can't have it both ways.
Chavez can't have both his In-and-Out and Jack in the Box burgers - one or the other broComment

I've already linked in the other thread where Arum either contradicts or clarifies those comments. I don't which day was the one where he was telling the truth. But I know I'd do everything I could to walk if I was Chavez.http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id...golovkin-talks

He didn't contradict anything, he just didn't mention the no extension offer cause he was still trying to push the 1 fight extension onto Chavez and was blaming the manager. The terms were great though, nothing to complain about. Same for the treatment he got from Top Rank, he would have gotten nowhere without them with his limited talent and dedication.Comment

Lol, true dat bro
I think he's at that point in his career honestly where he can probably fight under GBP/Shaw/TR/Roc Nation/SMS on a fight by fight basis. He's a well-paying, low skilled punching bag that could generate good revenue for everyone involved until the pimping of his last name is used upComment

Yeah I agree. It's kinda crazy because Chavez is good but not that good. With little discipline. But boy Top Rank's stable is really shaky. This, plus Garcia in litigation. Bradley without big fight prospects. On and on. Arum needs to make Cotto-Canelo. If he loses that opportunity...yikes.Lol, true dat bro
