I'm not sure that contradicts what I said. Bob Arum is as good as there's been in spinning the media and every now and then he slips. He's getting old. That's what he did in the BoxingScene interview. It makes no sense to offer more money for a guy who won't re-sign with you.

Again you're misunderstanding. There were 3 attempts: 6.6m with a 2 fight extension, 7m with a 1 fight extension (5-10m depending on him winning), and say 2.5m with ppv upside, no extension.

What would you have done in this situation and why?

What's wrong with a prime, undefeated American champion on ppv?

              Me personally

The GGG fight plus 1-fight extension seemed ideal

7M - get massacred by GGG and still earn 5M in his next fight = 12M total. Perhaps beat GGG and earn another 10M for possible 17M. 12-17M in a two fight span seems like a sweet deal to me.

Then again, the devil is in the details

Who is this generic person? Are you talking about Rocky Marciano? Acelino Freitas? Who?

If he had any intention of fighting GGG, then sign the 1 fight extension for 12-17m. That's a no brainer, provided he did want the fight.

No way he gets that money for the extension fight. Bradley was guaranteed $9m for a rematch against Pacquiao but Arum blew it right off. Last time I saw Tim he was on a beach looking like Rick Ross.

So he'd have to read the fine print, but Chavez' manager was well aware of that. It didn't help that Bradley was the beneficiary of the biggest robbery in recent times. And he ended up doing really well for himself, like 15m for 3 fights, way more than he would have gotten anywhere else
