I'm guessing that given Haymons dearth of assets at LHW (he's got, basically Stevenson and Fonfara who've already fought and La Bomba who was coming off a loss) it made sense to work with HBO cos there was no realistic slot or call for a LHW fight on SHO and La Bomba had been outta the ring for nearly a year.
Is does kinda imply though that it's Haymon more than HBO that is the stumbling block - after all, if HBO are willing to televise La Bomba, why not other Haymon fighters?

Yeah... obviously HBO were really short on anyone to put in with Ward (and blasting out Grachev was seen a s quite impressive at the time) which put Haymon in the ideal position to bid-up Rodriguez' purse. As with Stevenson however, not much has happened for La Bomba since.
Can't help thinking it does look like Haymon is almost going out of his way to spoil (or at least profit from) many of the marquee fights HBO are trying to build fighters with though. La - Bomba vs Ward, Stevenson vs Kovalev, GGG vs JCC Jr, quite likely the reason HBO wasn't willing to upbid the Fonfara fight was due to what happened with Ward - Rodriguez.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 11-04-2014, 07:54 AM.

In that context it's entirely possible his programming will be going H2H with HBO so it makes sense from a business standpoint to hinder HBOs development of star names to rival his own stable and to seek to minimise HBOs profits..
Maybe I'm jumping the gun though. Let's wait and see how things pan out next year when it seems that Uncle Als plans look likely to come to fruition.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 11-04-2014, 08:10 AM.
