He was a pro kickboxer before transitioning to boxing so of course doesn't have an amateur boxing background.

However he sure picked a dumb sport to be intelligent in. Many of the ATGs were (or at least seemed) borderline ******ed, low-ranking criminals, etc. Just reality. Conventional intelligence doesn't mean much in boxing.

Quite the contrary, a willingness subject your brain to repetitive damage in exchange for victory is one hallmark of a successful boxer. We are savages.

            Smartest: Marquez
            Most dangerous: Cotto

Even if Algieri wins, he won't change that. He could completely outbox and outsmart Pac. It would simply be a case of Pac being done. However, Algieri took a beating against a very slow fighter with no defense in Prov, I doubt he will actually outsmart Pacquiao. Yeah I know what some will say "Bradley took a beating as well", Bradley purposely fought the way he did because he was out to get the fans love again after the first Pac fight. Algieri actually tried his best to outbox Prov and got his face beaten badly and was knocked down twice. Algieri and Bradley barely beat Provodnikov, but Bradley fought Prov, Algieri boxed him.

What's amazing is how quickly this thread turns into a Floyd's thread!

Algieri will lose this fight I think, and I won't be surprised if it's by KO. After that, Algieri can go back to defending his 140lbs belt while being able to promote himself and make some money in boxing. If he wins, well the flood-gates open.
