    Hell of a fight.

    Could go either way really.

GGG would have utterly butchered the Sergio of the last couple of years, but the 2009-2012 Sergio was a totally different fighter.

I don't know man,I love Martinez..Yet two things would make me pick against him in this fight..The first thing is Martinez is not hard to hit,and the second is 3G is more then just a pressure fighter..He has real skill..

Very possible because Martinez was fast, powerful and accurate. And tough. It's really hard to say because we haven't seen GGG against a top opponent.

Martinez from 4 years ago takes him out.

Can't quite gauge how GGG fairs against truly great fighters until he faces one (quite clearly not his fault), however i would have backed him against any Martinez.

He isn't just all about the power, he sets his shots nicely to hit them right, and he doesn't have to hit them right very often to get the job done.

Martinez has been dropped by fighters with lesser power and skills, but it's purely a fantasy fight now so opinions are just that.

i doubt it, but i think he'd mark golovkin up, and that it would be a great fight.

prime martinez was fast, tough, and a sharp puncher.

i think martinez wins some rounds, but takes a beating when he tires and waits for his second wind.

Martinez between the Pavlik and Dzinziruk fights was a beast...speed, good power and saavy

He aint walking through Maravilla's punches like Geale
Really? Just as big a power? JCC was hitting Rubio for 12 rounds and Rubio was still standing.

Maravilla (and I do respect this fighter) was avoiding GGG and Pirog as a plague.

Thing is that Sergio didn't had a durable chin. He was dropped in many of his fights. Yes - it would not be easy but eventually GGG would connect and Sergio would go down.

                  No.

Martinez chin has always been suspect to me.

Not because of the Cotto fight, but if you pay attention to a lot of his other fights, you will notice that several of his opponents had him stunned.

For instance, look at how rattled he was when Margarito landed that shot on him when he was against the ropes.

Golovkin would destroy any version of Martinez.....period.

                    Also, Martinez power was overrated.

Outside of that perfect shot that Paul Williams walked into........he is a solid puncher at best.

Martinez has stamina issues and also struggles with pressure fighters.

Golovkin TKO Martinez (any version) within 8 rounds.

                      100% agree.

Sergio was lucky to fight the version of Kelly Pavlik that he did, and Pavlik was winning the fight before he gassed. I still can't figure out how Martinez scored a KO over Cintron, it wrongly overruled, and somehow Cintron comes back and evens up the fight? And for all his speed & power, look how he fought Darren Barker. Imagine how long he would last if his fight with Golovkin went that route, as GGG would be cutting off the ring and taking away Martinez's space. Sergio's legs would be taxed as he'd constantly be on the run. Sergio likes to implement feints to create hesitation in his opponents before he attacks. Golovkin punches through feints.

There's a reason Martinez fought unknown (to US tv) fighters like Dzinzurik, Macklin, Barker, and Murray rather than a fellow title holder in Pirog who had a KO win over an American fighter on HBO and who was constantly calling him out.
