Floyd Mayweather is NOT interested in a fight with Cotto 2007-12-16..... Floyd gave his thought on Cotto trying to lure Floyd into a fight...... more importantly, Floyd doesn't feel the fight makes any financial sense at the moment.WRONG he was still with Top Rank actually, Bob Arum actually tried to negotiated with Gary Shaw (who was Winky Wright Promotion at that time) to make the fight but negotiations fell apart.
By the way while Mayweather was with Top Rank, he wasn't even offered Margarito until he he asked for the Oscar De La Hoya fight, Margarito was used as a damn "Carrot on a Stick" to try keep Mayweather at Top Rank
And Cotto was NEVER OFFERED, even Cotto confirmed that Mayweather never came up as a possible opponent while with Top Rank
WBC welterweight champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. (39-0, 25KOs) is not interested in a potential fight with WBA champ Miguel Cotto (31-0, 25KOs) of Puerto Rico, at least for now. In a recent interview with Franklin McNeil of the New Jersey Star-Ledger, Mayweather gave his thoughts on Cotto trying to lure him into a fight by revealing his strategy to win. Mayweather, as one can expect, does not agree with Cotto's fight plan. More important than that, he doesn't feel the fight makes any financial sense at the moment.Comment

Mayweather's camp requested a morning-of-the-fight weigh-in. That included a stipulation that Wright couldn't go more than eight pounds above the limit.
He added that Wright adviser Jim Wilkes and Don King, who has an option on Wright's next fight, agreed as well.
"As of right now, it's no deal - they changed the money on me at the last second," said promoter Gary Shaw
floyd making crazy demands then when someone accepts changing the money? floyd would never do that...
they had already agreed to the money. then he changed it. winky was fighting at 160 at the time and floyd wanted to make it so winky couldn't weigh more than 162 in the ring. that's a pretty insane demand. obviously floyd didn't think winky would agree but he did so floyd had to resort to asking for more money to kill the fight.Comment

This logic of "asking for more money means you don't want the fight is ******ed" just like the marg situation. He said he would fight him if he could get 10 mil guarantee for cotto and Hatton. Arum said no. Arum said no to 20 mil guarantee for oscar too. So Floyd left. And he made way more to fight all three of them when he didFloyd Mayweather is NOT interested in a fight with Cotto 2007-12-16..... Mayweather's spent his career in predominantly Latino divisions, and fights in the US where most his opponents would be from either the States or Mexico. Those numbers don't mean anything close to "Mayweather ducks black fighters."Comment

I would actually be offended if I was black and a floyd fan. He basically is saying that the real money to be made is coming from Hispanics hence the opponents and fight dates. He is saying an all 'black" fight card wouldn't do that well at all. Is he insinuating that African Americans wont shell out the money to see that card? Also if Floyd really cared about the African American community why not give another one of these "brothers" a chance to fight him and put them in the lime light? After all, the African American community will need another fighter like floyd to cheer for after he retires. 78sports tv made a good video about it recently.Comment

If it fits an agenda, fans will use any ****** thing anybody says to support that agenda. It didn't make sense when Mayweather fans accused Pac of ducking black fighters, and it doesn't make sense when Pac fans do the same with Mayweather.Comment
