I mentioned Trout already - I too think that is a solid fight and able to do on WCB and stuff.

Didn't Arum say negotiations for a Canelo fight already started?

If that's the case, I would figure there's no fight to be made before that.

As for the fight itself... It's pretty bad, but I have no issue with it. I was satisfied with Cotto's career after the Margarito rematch, I figured he wouldn't accomplish much after that, so putting up that nice little effort against Floyd and then winning the MW belt was quite surprising.

As far as I'm concerned, anything he does after this point is just a nice little bonus for me. As much as I would love to see him go on to beat Canelo/Floyd/GGG, I would have no issue if he got brutalized and retired in the first round of a tuneup.

I'm down for it as a stay busy fight. Why not!

Rack up all of those titles so Golovkin can snatch them in 2015 all at once.

Word. Hyping up fights with weak links such as Cornelius Bundrage and Jermain Taylor is just sad.

And what's your alternative other than May/Canelo/GGG

Cause surely you have something to say or contribute. What's a decent WCB fight for Jan/Feb?

Trout at this point sucks, maybe he always did, but at this point he's getting put on his ass on espn 2. If they fought and cotto lost, he'd be ruined. There's nothing to gain in that fight.

Taylor is so past it he was struggling to land clean punches on a fighter who could barely stand up for about half the fight. That is how useless Jermain Taylor now is. Besides he is surely ending up in prison.

Cotto vs Canelo at 160lbs Title Fight.

Winner fights for all the belts against the other champ GGG!!!!

Anything else is just promoter BS or a fighter ducking his obligations as a champion or both.

I stopped watching boxing years ago because the correct matchups were rarely made. This is so easy to see Stevie Wonder can see it! (sorry Stevie)

Cotto vs Canelo is a good fight and the winner to challenge GGG is what boxing needs!

One Champion per weight class or at least the federations challenging each other every two years! Fight your mandatory then look for the biggest payday
out there. Hell if you loose your federation belt you can drop the winner and have an elimination for the belt. (like we used to do)
                    Ray.

I would have liked Cotto vs. Lee at MSG. Maybe it's still possible if Lee beats Korobov. Or Rosado vs. Lemieux winner maybe. I doubt any of them would be ready by late January/February though.

If they really want to get that Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalry started up again then maybe get Sergio Mora.

Cotto vs. Mora in late January. And then Cotto vs. Canelo in May.

I don't have a problem with Cotto vs. Taylor, let them get paid, but when Cotto wins don't expect him to get props from anybody.
