I guess Froch didn't get the memo, Chavez Jr. has not spoken to top rank in months, there has been no fights or potential opponents discussed with Jr. - Froch is going to vacate for nothing... Games people play...(Eddie Hearn / Bob Arum)

I thought the DeGale beat Groves, and at the very least it was a close fight. It wasn't like Groves dominated him at all.

Froch is at a point in his career where he just wants big money fights. DeGale would be way too risky for him.

Lets be frank here, when you risky, you mean borderline waste of time. Let's not insinuate that Froch would intimidated to take on such a borderline meaningless fight.

It would be like Mayweather fighting a Devon Alexander-esque type opponent. Not even as threatening as a Keith Thurman, a little less threatening.

That's a good point. Chavez Jr said the other day that Top Rank was lying and hadn't discussed the Froch fight with him at all.

I hope Froch stays on top of boxing news or that someone close to him does. Otherwise he might vacate the belt for nothing.

He still has a while before he actually has to vacate.

Like Mayweather vs Alexander? Hardly... James DeGale is a classy fighter that could cause Froch all sorts of problems. Granted, he can sometimes be a little lazy and sit on the ropes and you could argue his power is lacking a little compared to Carl but overall he's more skillfull and elusive - a very tricky Southpaw.

The one loss he has against Groves is debatable, many ppl feel he won that fight, any closer and it would've been a draw and he looks a better fighter now.

I think Froch would get frustrated fighting James. DeGale won't get dragged into a scrap like Groves, he'll be much harder to hit and it makes for an interesting fight. I like Froch, but this would be a risky fight for very little reward.

There's no doubt Degale is a good fighter. He is.

But as Carl Froch's last fight? Or potentially last fight? I wouldn't mind if it never happened. Would anyone else?

Of course Degale wants a shot at froch! He's the daddy and the money man in the division. He'd get millions for that fight.

I still say Vegas or retire.

I think his comments in this weeks Boxing News can be taken as disrespect. I'll quote him,

"I think personally he should retire. Because fighting me, losing to me is probably hurts his legacy a little bit."

He then goes on to say, "I'm young, I'm good, he's seen my last fight, he knows I'm injury free. I'm too good. Technically really we're levels apart but he's strong, he's tough, good chin, got the heart of a lion. Those are his attributes because he's technically ****. But he's so **** it makes him good, if that makes sense."

I get what he's saying but it's similar to the stuff Groves was coming out with leading up to both his fights with Froch. I think he's changing his tact a bit to try and bait Froch or he's accepted the fact that it probably won't happen.

Technically though, Degale didn't show that he was much better than Groves when they fought, in fact they seemed at the same level with Groves edging it (just) tactically. So I'm more inclined to believe Froch can KO him but it's a pointless fight for him at this stage.

I can't recall ever watching a bout and hoping one of the boxers gets knocked out, but against my better judgement I'm starting to warm to this one for that very reason.

I'd love to see Froch render DeGale unconscious.

                    Unfortunately it's not very likely.

If Froch fights on, it's a fight I'm interested in especially as the Chavez fight doesn't seem likely.

I'm surprised Froch stood up to Hearn and told him he wasn't taking the fight (or so he claims).
