Unbeaten Gennady Golovkin knocked out Mexico's Marco Antonio Rubio in two rounds to retain his WBA/IBO middleweight titles in California.

The 32-year-old from Kazakhstan, a 2004 Olympic silver medallist, improved to 31-0 with 28 knockouts, the latest coming 79 seconds into the second round and extending a streak of victories inside the distance that began in 2008.

I honestly don't want to see Golovkin-Cotto. We all know Cotto's only a MW title holder from beating a crippled Martinez. And the whole Cotto resurgence consists of that fight and Delvin Rodriguez...

If Golovkin's going to fight a smaller man atleast let them have some speed advantage like Lara, Andrade, or Charlo. Andrade just tweeted Golovkin's too slow for him. I hear some philly guys talking too, JRock's not quit ready, but then he shouldn't be fighting JSK either...

In other words no resurgence at all... It's the same guy who lost to Trout.

But if most Cotto fans want to pretend otherwise and pretend he's the legit MW champion then they should want a fight with Golovkin.

Well Cotto is the lineal MW champion, that's who he should call out. Don't see Quillen fighting him so unless none of the top JMW fight him he would probably move to Super MW.

As we know, Mexico vs. Puerto Rico is one of the sport's greatest rivalries. Como estas, bien?

Golovkin is the champ. Cotto is the champ. Everywhere you go I go. I'm the champ, you're the chump. What you do... I do! Seriously, Cotto has to defend his title. In other case, he has to leave his title. Leaving title is not good for boxing, it's not good for Puerto Rico fans, because Cotto is the first Puerto Rican fighter who won world championships in four weight divisions. I like Cotto, i like Golovkin. I would like to see their bout at the catch-weight. Cotto is a great warrior, he should take this encounter.
