Repeat buyers suggests people are entertained and want more. That's a conclusion we would make in any instance, in boxing or out. In every facet of entertainment and sports popularity is measured in part by sales of some kind-tickets, jerseys, shoes etc. So stop pretending that I am making the same ridiculous crap argument you are, My opinion is data driven, yours clearly isn't.

No thy are not-ppv sales in other forms sports or entertainment-pro wrestling 1 example-sales are down. Sales are trending down in boxing and ppv's are fewer than in the past. Boxing isn't as big in the US anymore. SO its hard to be sure someone else will come along and top what he did.

PPV is a bone dry number that doesn't reveal why the buyer bought it what I'm saying. Why the sudden ****e in ppv buys with the Canelo match over the Ortiz, guerrero and Maidana matches?

Perhaps fans of neither boxer are tuning in to what appears to be a fight where Floyd can be beat?

Decade is ten years, a generation is 20 years. You can win a FOTD award, as manny did, and not be considered the best of your generation, as manny is not.

Unless they actually fight (and even if they fight at this stage of their careers as they are past prime) it will never be clearly stated that floyd was the best of his generation. For every person that says he was there will be another that labels him as a ducker.

So for fans of his like yourself he will be remembered as the greatest of his time.

For most in the middle he will be remembered as possibly the best of his generation, along with manny queue a sigh of 'pity they never fought to decide it once and for all' many will claim that pac was better.

And for many more he will be remembered for 'health comes first'

Years ago, the prevailing thought was SRL ducked Pryor. Some still believe that. When aaron was asked a few years going back about what happened, he gave an honest answer that those in the know already knew-that he turned down an offer. I envision the same thing happening assuming Manny truly is saved and gives an honest answer.

As time passes and people like Roach and Manny (and BOb should Manny ever leave him) tell the truth, things will change, same as above.

You are correct-people don't tell you why they bought it. That said-repeat customers has always been an indicator of approval. That's why floyd gets the big money-even when he isn't in a big event he does better than the other guys.

We really don't need to debate this. The numbers are what they are.

SRR is still considered the greatest of all time even though he didn't fight Burley. Only those very petty fans that want their guy to be #1 harp on that. Same thing here.

The ducker label is a popular one here on NSB. it's in response to Floyd being rated and ranked higher than Manny everywhere, including here. Manny fans, while internet experts, are not powerful enough to change the way boxing as a whole remembers its best fighters.

That would be like me arguing most people will remember manny for not taking PED testing. Only the very pettiest of people will use the mental energy to remember either fighter in this fashion.

How do you figure repeat buyers from ppv numbers? Not everyone is a fan of Floyd's like yourself...so how can you speak for the others?
