I do unsterstand where he comes from. At the age of 37 he's already accomplished what he needed to. While he's still a distant number 2 behind Ward he wants a quality name where he can earn a good payday. Chavez is the right name. GGG is also a good name. Who else is out there for him where he can earn a good pay day? While Ward has his number, he isn't much of a draw not even in his hometown.

Jr is a cash cow I guess. Ward, the #2 fighter in the world is also beasting for a fight with him.

On the other hand, and perhaps most importantly, I BET FROCH will look back one day and realize he did to Degale what Calzaghe did to him - and he will regret that.

Why not have that fight, make those extra £4,000,000+ ($6.5 MILLION+ approx) and enjoy the rest of his life knowing he didn't ***** out like Calzaghe did to him?

Is Degale the NEW Froch? (in the sense that the top fighters in the division were initially afraid to fight him).
There will always be a new guy who wants to fight you. If you would fight them all you would never be able to quit.

I can't blame him. He's fought everyone and now he's only interested in big money fights. He's earned it. I'll be sad to see him leave the sport but happy knowing he retired on a high note. There's no point in fighting if he's not motivated. I'm sure he'd make a good commentator and his Wife certainly must do okay financially with her modeling career.

Good choice honestly. Retire on a high note instead of fizzling out by fighting other semi-retirees (most of the 168 division).

It's a bit different when the new guy is the number one contender in the world for your World Title, he's your mandatory fight, he's from your own country and he's been asking to fight you for many, many years already (way before he became your mandatory fight) - that's an usual set of combined factors but that's the situation with Froch and Degale right now. Degale has been wanting to fight Froch for YEARS and now he's the mandatory challenger.

He just knocked out the guy who beat DeGale. People are trying to create buzz that just isn't there.

Say he beats DeGale and some guy DeGale already beat becomes the new mandatory... Repeat.
