Rigondeaux is the most avoided fighter in boxing, they keep saying it's a money issue but at the end of the day, a network will pay to show him fight a top-tier fighter. They just know that they'll lose. I would love to see Rigondeaux vs. Lomachenko.

Whether any possible opponents are ducking Rigondeux isn't much of a factor when HBO and Showtime are ducking Rigondeux and with good reason that everyone knows about. As long as the big fight networks aren't interested his chances of becoming a household name or fan favorite are slim even with his high ranking with most boxing bodies.

exactly, the networks arent putting up the money. its unfair to blame the fighters.

these guys at the lower weights arent the top dogs who are getting paid millions.

Do people even understand what a "duck" is? Jhonny didn't say he wasn't willing to fight Rigo, or that the fight was beyond reach. He simply said he would like a good deal for the showdown. Plus, they are at 2 separate weight classes. If Rigo does move up to 126 to challenge Jhonny then Guillermo isn't in the driver's seat.

Sick of this nonsense. Just reading through the comments you can clearly see the biased posters looking for anything they can take out of context to bash on a specific nationality. This goes both ways.

Now, why doesnt anyone mention the fact the Jhonny is willing to face the Walters vs Donaire winner? Donaire is established at 126(unlike Rigo), holds a belt and the showdown would be for a unification(if Donaire gets past Walters). Walters on the other hand can be a very difficult night out for anyone, especially a fighter with chin problems such as Jhonny. If Walters beats Donaire not only would a showdown against Gonzalez be a unification bout but it would be a winnable fight for Walters that would practically cement his name as the top dog at 126(if he gets past both Gonzalez and Donaire). Plus I'm confident HBO would have no issue signing up for the Gonzalez vs Walters/Donaire clash. Not only does it make more sense for Jhonny to chase that fight but it's the better decision in order to unify the Featherweight division.

Selective reading is an issue on NSB. 12 pages plus about Rigo being ducked by a "fake mexican warrior" but hardly any talk over the fight Jhonny is focusing on. A fight that would benefit the 126 lbs division in every way and a true challenge for Gonzalez himself. Hope Rigo fixes his promotional issues, at 34 without a clear future at hand, his boxing career seems to be in limbo. Sad to see such talent go to waste, sayang.

          Good day, ignorant ****s.

Damn this fight would be brutal. There would be no chance in hell this fight goes past 5 rounds.
