Why won't Ward fight Kessler in Denmark, since he fought Ward in his hometown?

Especially since there would probably be more money involved hosting the fight in Denmark. Kessler is a pretty lucrative draw there, plus HBO would still pay a licensing fee of 2-3 million.

Then there'd be another 2-3 million from Danish revenue. Live gate revenue would probably be pretty similar, since Ward is a big draw in Oakland (but only Oakland).

The first two fights where great fights and FOTY contenders. The first in Denmark was a clear and deserved Kessler win as was what 80% of Boxingscene's posters had it.

The second seemed seemed like a Froch win if you look at punches and landed, but looking at rounds won, which is how you score, it was extremely close. A draw or perhaps a 7-5 win for the brit who was close to being KO'ed in both fights BTW.

What is worth noting is that Kessler didn't have to give Froch a return let alone in Britain but he did because he had said he would. Froch has said that he'd do the same for Kessler, but he is so far the one stalling the process.

I had the Dane needing to win the final round for a draw.I felt the 12th was a swing round and could have gone to Mikkel had the referee done his job and protected Mikkel from the lowblow.a true testament to the strength and durability of Kessler being able to overcome a low blow, keep moving and stay on his feet.

You could clearly see the referee about to intervene but for some unbeknown reason does not ! The majority of Froch's scoring punches that round landed after the lowblow, taking the round in the process and the duly the win !

Both fights weren't even that good - especially the second fight where Froch jabbbed out boxed Kessler's head off for most of the first portion of it.

Kessler should have fought DeGale as a kind of eliminator - DeGale would beat him btw.
A clear win, maybe not.deserved win, probably so with his workrate.no dubious circumstances ? You saw that 12th round too right, probably the most exciting for a British Froch fan,Kessler looking like he was going to succumb to incessant bombs, that must have excited you a touch.shame it was all because of a low blow.

I'm certainly not saying Mikkel only lost because of a lowblow,he lost because he didnt win a single round himself until the 4th,read Froch's book,he acknowledges himself that he began to allow Mikkel back into the fight around the 4th.the fight was lost in the first three rounds, too high a mountain to climb,a draw was very much achievable, and with fairer officiating and a better standard of scoring, the scoring would have been different.Adelaide Byrd has always had a habit of favouring the home fighter,Hearn is not ******,he knew what he was doing.

          Back on topic:

I said this previously a few posts back,Mikkel deserved the rubber match the moment he signed for the rematch.no doubts, whether you wanna see Frovh fight someone other than Mikkel or could it just be that you want DeGale to grab an undeserved payday windfall ?

Tell me what has Chavez Jr done to deserve a Froch fight ? He beat and lost to a 160 guy at 168 in his last two fights before losing every single round bar the 12th in his last title defence ! Ok Kessler has been inactive, but he proved versus Bouadla and Green he is still an exceptionally dangerous opponent coming off of long lay offs,he has been in the gym for months now, doesn't look out of shape unlike Chavez between fights, doesn't smoke pot either !

Ward owes Kessler a rematch after the disgrace in Oakland - just a shame its now several years too late!

DeGale vs Kessler is not a bad idea. Winner gets Froch.

Id like to see any of those fights, Kessler always comes to fight.

If he rematches Ward though, they should get Kenny Bayless as the ref. That first fight was flagrantly foul filled.

But the 1st one was different class, those last 3 rounds were 3 of the best rounds that year if not THE best. Reminded me of Rocky II.

That said, I have zero interest in a 3rd fight.

We're 4 years removed from that 1st "classic" and Froch showed last year that he's better than Kessler, by this point there's nothing left to prove there

GGG should be the fight that the fans scream from the rooftops for. What a war that could be!
Golovkin is the one fight out of a potential list of 5-6 guys called for to be Froch's next opponent by the British fans in a poll I read about 6 months.the boxing fans have no desire to see Ward or Hopkins, because it would as we all know be an uglier fight than the Ward v Kessler/Froch fights.

Clearly no one at 160 is takin GGG's power,it is inevitable he will have to move up.Froch versus GGG would be bigger in terms of legacy than Chavez, but lets cut the bs,it isn't about legacy.and it is all besides the point anyway,Froch would likely stalked and bullied.

I think Kessler wins too,Froch has flaws, not many more than Mikkel but he is a flawed boxer.very similar in many ways,I think Kessler's workrate only let him down last out.allowing the Brit to take dictate the tempo in the first quarter of the fight was an oversight, they probably didnt allow the respect he deserved in camp during the build up,focusing on the wrong tactic.clearly the ability to change within the ring and employ different strategy brought Mikkel right back into it,can Froch be anything other than a gutsy tough plodding brawler when the fight necessitates it ? He couldn't against Ward amd struggled before with Groves,a guy who clearly couldn't stand up to his power.Mikkel has proved he can take everything and more from Froch, dirty underhand tactics n all !

Ward has zero appeal for myself against Mikkel or Froch, unless the rules are observed by strict officiators and the guy credits both with a return.both Froch and Kessler were belt holders when they traveled to Ward's country, all the best champions in the world defend wherever, whenever, not just their country of residence.Ward has no right to an exemption,if he had a fan base I could understand but he hasn't really an appeal to his own people !
