  • Gennady Golovkin VS Andre Ward at 168: Who wins?

GGG is a monster, Ward is an outstanding boxer who wins by Mayweather margins often, 120-108 a lot of the time.

If I had to choose, had to, I would say a Ward win. Hagler took Mugabi's punches, Ali took Shavers and Foremans, Holyfield took Tysons punches. I can't see Golovkin knocking out Ward.

IMO Ward would outpoint Golovkin. It would be a very close fight, and as a matter of fact it might be so close the judges could give it to GGG, even though I woulda personally chosen Ward.

This a fight that could go either way. Ward is a much much bigger man but I think Golovkin's power is such that it transcends weight classes. Golovkin would have to change his ways and get a little dirty because Ward will pull out every dirty trick in the book to try to win this fight. Refereeing would matter very much in this fight. Ultimately, I think Golvkin is too good not to connect with huge power shots and he stops Ward late, who doesn't have the power to hurt Golovkin.

Too early to say TBH. As of right now, I'd have to go with a Ward UD, simply on the grounds that we've not seen GGG tested at the same level as Ward.

Nonetheless I'm absolutely sure that we've not seen close to the best outta
Golovkin (and TBH Wards never really been pushed to the limit either) so it's almost impossible to judge his eventual ceiling.

I voted GGG by KO. Ward was knocked down and hurt early in his pro career by a guy who was not in GGG's class for speed, skill or power. GGG has the speed and skill to land clean punches on Ward and the power to KO him. GGG can take Ward's punches and he has never been down in over 300 amateur and pro fights.

            That's alot of caveats bro.

Styles make fights. Ward is the type to neutralize what you do best, frustrate you and come out with a W.

              Ward wins.

              Plain and simple.

Ward, because he has mastered the art of imposing his style on the fight, and winning rounds. He would frustrate GGG with pitter patter punching, and excessive clinching.

Right now Ward wins a UD pretty easily imo. He would neutralise and frustrate Golovkin.

We're talking about a future fight or current fight, not when Ward was a rookie.
