Cotto sure as heck don't need Canelo... Cotto gonna draw no matter who he fights.... if he says he fighting in June.. Canelo either takes it or leaves it.

Vegas makes sense for Canelo. New York makes sense for Cotto. These two facts are what cannot be disputed. Vegas is a significant advantage for Canelo. New York is a significant advantage for Cotto, not much for Canelo.
Texas will be the advantage for Canelo, not Vegas. Remember the 40,000 he did against an unknown trout? Vegas is an even playing field for both.

Trout wasn't a unknown... he had just beaten Cotto.... Canelo was at that fight.. he wanted Cotto back then.

I meant unknown in terms of draw power

Cotto, of course, has the upperhand in the negotiation, I don't see why fans, especially Floyd's, get so worked up in this. Normal fans don't give a crap about how they would reach an agreement. Let's face it, Floyd fans are concerned about the Cinco de Mayo date. They're hoping that Cotto rejects that date. But there's a solution. Canelo may give up the venue, while Cotto may give up the date, or vise versa. The date is the main issue, not the venue, well, at least in this site. Some pretend that the venue would be the main issue... of course.

This fight makes much bigger money for both fighters in Vegas for Cinco de Mayo wknd. This cannot be disputed.

yep and just I like said, cotto obviously doesn't care about the tax situation.

if cotto was calling the shots against Floyd in 2012, he would have wanted that fight at MSG.

I'm Puerto Rican, a big Cotto fan, and live and work in NYC. I've been to every Cotto fight held at the Garden and as much as I would love to see Cotto/Canelo live at MSG, it would not happen. It makes MUCH more business sense for BOTH fighters for it to happen in Vegas. I'm 100% sure that the MGM will offer a MUCH bigger site fee than MSG. I'm also 100% sure that both fighters will make significantly more money fighting in Vegas on Cinco de Mayo as opposed to MSG.

Cotto isnt as big a draw in vegas as he is here in NYC due to the PR population in NYC. That's why he fights in NYC more often than Vegas.

Cotto Canelo will sell-out wherever they fight... business-wise it probably is better financially in Vegas.

Your second paragraph is EXACTLY why Cotto will NOT, or shall we say, will be VERY UNLIKELY to fight in Vegas. This is the same Cotto that fought Trout for $1 million at at time he didn't even need to fight Trout. And why? Because Trout had a ****** belt that he shouldn't had even had in the first place. That isn't a guy who always has money as his top top priority.

Vegas favors Canelo so much that it's not even funny. Fat chance that Cotto agrees to that. Cotto coming into the ring like he's the challenger? It's going to be comical the way the negotiations unfolds. Don't be surprised if this fight doesn't happen because they can't agree to a venue alone, amongst other things.

And also, the Barclays or MSG can likely MATCH whatever the MGM is offering. The Barclays outbid the MGM for Mayweather vs. Maidana 1 for example.
