That was before he discovered MX was causing all these deaths in boxing. He was naive back then no way he allows that to happen anymore, same as the drug testing he hasn't looked back.

And don't assume anything I could care less if he replaced Floyd all I'm interested in is seeing him fight the best and that means a Cotto fight.

Not the best mw but he's still one of the best fighters around. Taking into account the weight class and all the bs that surrounds boxing and matchmaking he's one of the best fighters he can realistically fight.

Its a damn good fight and one most of us are looking forward too seeing. but this fight isn't about fighting the best-its about Cotto making a big payday and Canelo trying to prove he can carry a network and Vegas like Floyd has done. Its also about HBO and GBP trying to take back the weekends from Floyd/showtime. Canelo put a lot of pressure on himself with what he has been saying.

That's why cotto has so much leverage here.

Fight might not happen

This is my theory, Cotto is gonna ask for the next things:

1) Canelo is gonna go up to the weights first - Canelo accepts
2) Canelo is gonna come out to the ring first, Canelo accepts.
3) Canelo is gonna be presented in the ring first, Canelo accepts
4) The Puerto Rican anthem will be played first, Canelo accepts
5) Canelo is gonna be on the blue corner, Canelo accepts.
6) Fight's gotta be @154 no more no less, Canelo accepts.

These things won't bother Canelo's team but the next 2 are gonna be key in the fight happening or not.

7) Cotto wants a 65 + / 35 - purse split
8) Fight's gotta be on June at MSG, because he wants all the money that can be made and he knows Floyd's gonna lower his numbers, after all he's not planning in long term, he's on the short term game now.

To be honest I think a 60/40 split in favor of Cotto at the most would be fair but if he wants more then we might be talking about he not wanting the fight.

If he wants to fight @154 it's ok np, lets' be fair, Canelo proclaims himself that he's a junior middleweight yet he's fighting like a middleseight, so Canelo you better step up or shut up.

Canelo's plans are on long term, talkin business, it could be good for him if he tries to compete against Floyd toe to toe, to see who get's the highest numbers on ppv. and with a fight like this he could do it.

I think this new version of Cotto will dominate Canelo over 12 rounds... but Cotto needs to relax with he Diva stuff...Canelo and Cotto both fough Floyd and Cotto even had HBO which has more subscribers to watch 24/7, and Floyd-Canelo's PPV numbers tower Cotto's with Floyd.

The fight should be Cinco De Mayo in Vegas, Texas or NY

I'm not excited for the fight because it'll be an easy win for Cotto.. Canelo takes too long to get off his punches..Cotto will tear him up with the left and Canelo will get gun shy like he did vs Floyd...

Canelo just fought Lara and made a close fight, what makes you think Cotto is a better mover or boxer than Lara? just askin, IMHO styles makes fights and Cotto is gonna be on a long night if he enters the ring against Canelo. KO for sure.

I think the fight generates far more in Vegas so if cotto wants to fight in NYC-its either Floyd (rumor Barclays execs have discussed tax exemption with Mayor's office) or GGG (I don't think Cotto is going to take a fight with a smaller purse).
