Well, I do want Ward vs Golovkin, my reasons are that I think it'd be a great, competitive fight. I also think it'd make most sense for Golovkin to establish some SMW credentials first, but I'd still be good with them fighting ASAP (which probably isn't any time soon TBF).

I just don't see any good reason for GGG to sit on his ass for the next year or two waiting for Andre to sort out his legal problems.

If I'm reading things right the main cadre of posters insisting that GGG has to fight Ward right now are the same guys who also insist that the fight isn't remotely competitive (ie that Ward destroys Golovkin). If you share this opinion then I have to ask:

    1) Why are you so insistent that such an obvious (IYO) mismatch should be made. Don't we have enough BS mismatches already?

    2) What's Golovkin supposed to do whilst he's waiting for Ward to actually start fighting again? Should he just put his career on hold until Ward kinda 'unretires'?

    3) What kinda sacrifices do you think GGG should make to land a Ward fight?
GGGs a champion in his own division. Should he fight Ward for 10%, 20%, 40%? Ward expects $1.75 mil+ paydays and team GGG can't yet put close to that kinda money on the table. Any offer realistically has to come from team Ward but AFAIK no offer has been made.

Also, why should Golovkin take a short purse at all, given that there's no compelling reason for him to move up anyway?

I want this fight, and would personally be happy if it were signed tomorrow, but I can see a ton of good reasons why it makes sense to wait (as Ward has himself acknowledged on several occasions) and would be far bigger and more worthwhile when Ward has sorted his shit out and Golovkin has become a big enough name to make this fight financially worthwhile for both sides.

That's just damn sad mismanagement.
Who cares how much he talks about it? No matter how much Golovkin's team may want an Alvarez fight, there is zero chance of it happening in the next year. Talking about it doesn't change that. So they're talking options for early next year while they wait Golovkin's WBC shot.

If you seriously think Golovkin's people won't try their hardest to make a fight with Cotto and Alvarez, than you're kidding yourself. Of course they want and will try to make those fights. Their stated goal, and Golovkin's stated goal, is unifying his division. If Cotto/Alvarez drop the belt, then oh well. That's beyond his control. If they would drop the belt rather than fight him, no amount of talk will change that.

It's not like Golovkin/Cotto is some great fight. Most people only want to see it so Golovkin can finally be called the MW champ. The resentment towards Martinez has transferred to Cotto.

It was only a few months ago that Golovkin/Chavez was almost a done deal. Clearly they're trying to get Golovkin big money, high profile fights.

If Canelo beats Cotto, then GGG-Canelo becomes THE fight to make in the sport. It might finally take us all past the horrible fiasco that has been the Pacweather 'rivalry'.

This thread has nothing to do with Floyd.

How many words do you come up with in your Floyd Dictionary?

            Floydspastic
            Floydingaling
            Floydiots
            Flonuts

Seriously, stay on topic when it comes to the thread Junior Dong
