This is just a beautiful site to watch, right in front of the guy makes him miss about 8 punches then a 1 punch atomic counter punch

defensive genius? no. very sound defensively? yes. and honestly, he had all the defense he needed. he was fast, fast hands, fast feet and power enough for 2 fighters.

Boxing is running out of trainers that teach specific style to perfection.

His best defense was his offense. all the head and body movement was to set up punches.
Also if you think its genius than the credit goes to Cus first! Tyson was following the style and form that Cus taught to all his fighters.
Mike certainly gets credit for carrying out the plan very well.
It did take its toll once he wasn't as prepared in his latter career. That style is extremely difficult to perform when your not in great condition AND youthful.
You saw what happened to Tyson once the upper body movement was gone and he stood straight up, not good.
            Ray.

Tyson's defence is part of his legend, and it's not forgotten by hardcore fans.

As mentioned above, prime Tyson's best defense was indeed his offense. The opposition was way too worried about defense to mount calculated offense.
