The problem is that many of his most memorable fights were losses. Great fighter, huge following, will be remembered for years. Not an ATG.

Hmm interesting question. First thing that came to my mind was, what was his best win? Overall he has had a good career, beating some solid opponents but an ATG, probably in Puerto Rico. Im still thinking about what his best win was, his best losses I remember

Mosley was his best win, nothing comes close to that.

Big Cotto fan but as his record stands he's not an ATG as of yet. He is one of the most respected fighters this sport has seen though.

IMO he needs to rematch Trout.

No idea how he lost that fight

Mosley is his only true great win. Please don't mention shot to absolute **** Martinez as a good win.

IMHO and as I Cotto fan Ill say that he will have to either:

Beat FMJr. in a rematch and/or unify MW

A man of his statue (size) and at least unify with GGG (much larger) and another MW defense vs. top 3 opponent will do it for me.

Not an ATG has many will tell you and they're right.

But he was an exceptional fighter, a great power puncher at 140 and an exceptional boxer/puncher at 147 who managed a decent run at 154 and just pulled off one of the great upsets at 160 and is one of the few fighters since Hagler to hold the "lineal" middleweight title.

Sadly his biggest nights were against welterweight beast Margarito, p4p great Pacquiao and defensive wizard Mayweather...they all ended in defeats.

But we should never forget his close but decisive victory over a better version of Mosley than what May or Pac faced and the fact that he beat a guy who was supposed to stop him in Martinez. Who knows, a win over Canelo and a legitimate middleweight may elevate him even further.
