Not an ATG but of course he has a legacy. Anyone who thinks he won't go to the HOF is not that bright.

hes in the HOF picture definitely. ATG? highly unlikely. hes a very good fighter, sans his delusional fanbase, he'd get respect from just about everyone around

If he manages to beat Canelo AND either of, Mayweather/Golovkin. You HAVE to put him in those discussions, no doubt about it.
Hall of Famer yes.... but is he first ballot? I don't think so considering some of the guys that don't get in. Then again some do who shouldn't so it's iffy but ... as it stands now I think he needs a major impressive win to be considered first ballot.

Cotto will be remembered as a fearless warrior with class. Taking on any and all challenges (except GGG -yet- but that's understandable). Most fighters would have quit, taking the kind of beating he did against PAC. He gave props, was very respectful and gained many more fans that night even though he lost.

          He has my respect.

He's had an interesting, exciting and non padded career. Lost some fights he probably could have won, gave mayweather a very good fight. He has my respect and I'm glad I got to watch his career.

That's the key, he has a non padded record. Cotto really did fight the best out there at all times. I think if more fighters did that they'd have a few more losses too.

Exactly! Canelo's on the same level as Austin Trout and Erislandy Lara ffs, take about overrated, lol.

Turning his MW title from a laughing stock into the real thing by beating GGG would do it. Nobody could question Cotto then.

Beating Canelo would be "solid" but not really an ATG feat.

The only good part about that horrific Martinez "fight" was watching the Cotto brigade pretend it was an epic battle and describe Sergio's "experimental footwork"... Ahahahaha...

How exactly is not taking on GGG understandable... They both hold titles in the same division... Golovkin and Martinez are about the same size and this one can walk. Fight!
