Fans of Cotto seem to be crazy about the notion that Cotto was the first to stop Branco, and their main reason (and i think you said this too borikua) was that Nobody has stopped Branco not even Gatti, and just pointing out that it wasnt the full fledge Gatti in there, my man was in their w/ an injured hand and still put Branco down, so lets not get carried away and try and hype up this win too much.

And another thing im kinda tired of hearing is the record and it is only 26 fights and so on. Which is great you can say that, but dont say he is this super star champion b/c he is certainly not, Lacy and Taylor both had less fights and hey were fighting for linear titles. As much as I hate to say it Mayweather is right by saying Cotto needs about 2 more years. I just hope for Cotto fans he doesnt get KO'd or exposed badly during that time or he'll be fighting in Puerto Rico full time

I'm not going crazy cuz he is the first to stop Branco, it's just a fact. Nobody is trying to hype this win, to say that he can't get props for this win just cuz your boy Gatti was supposedly injured when he fought Branco is just plain ******.

Trinidad fought better people too. Trinidad doesn't swing from fighting timid to fighting aggressively on a fight by fight basis. You never know which Cotto will show up. The timid Cotto (Branco) or the Killer Cotto (Torres).

Corley didn't almost knock him out and Floyd was right back in the fight. Corley was in no way, shape or form going to beat Floyd in the fight. There was controversy after that fight about the "hometown" stoppage. Cotto was helped (not saved) by the advantageous stoppage by the ref.

The fact is, getting rocked means little if you come back to Knockout your opponent.

He has given brutal, brutal beatings to Maussa, Ceballos, Jukko, Abdulaev, Bailey, Corley, Pinto, Branco, and Sosa. Many of the fighters that he has faced, have never been KOed, or stopped, until they fought him. Hell he has faced the same fighters that beat him in the amatuers and has stopped them.

Emmanuel Steward said it best- "Cotto has the best 25(now 26) fight record in boxing."

Yeah, you're right. But getting rocked in a close fight where there was a favorable hometown stoppage says a lot.

This post actually frustrates me a little.

I've been watching Cotto for a long time...and this is the way he fought when he started garnering all of this hype. Calculated, moderate, and precise. This is how he looked when he was three-piecing Vic Sosa, when he was beating down Ceballos, etc...

It's not timid...it's how he was fighting before he took the aggressive stances against guys like Corley and Torres.

If he fights everyone that way he'll be much more successful.

Corley did not do anything to show that he was superior to Cotto, with the exception of one punch that landed on the temple of the Puerto Rican. Cotto lost that round but was BEATING CORLEY DOWN, so saying that Cotto was "escaping defeat" is ****** and ignorant. Then the article discredits his awesome performance against Abdulaev by saying "abdulaev had already had one loss". The Torres fight was a great tough fight. Torres is a very strong fighter that poses a threat to many of the top ten 140's. I guess we will see just how good Torres is when he fights Lazcano in May.

Cotto may not be the next Trinidad, but he is a very, very good fighter. The errors that I see in him are that he varies his style a little too often. He seemed to have one style that he commited to, but in the recent Branco fight, he seemed almost too careful. Saying that his skills are diminishing or, that he is on his way out is too premature. Give the 25 year old some more time and more fights before we say that he is done or is on his way out. Cotto still has several years in boxing.
What if Corley had better finishing skills though?

Cotto is lucky that Corley couldn't finish a cheeseburger if his name was James Toney 6 months before a fight, otherwise he would've been KO'd, or KD'd and in serious, serious trouble.

That's true. That's how I first remember him too. But as of late, he's been feeling the hit and he has been fighting aggresively more. But it doesn't change the fact that when he tries to entertain us, he gets his chin checked. He's not that type of fighter.

Like Enrique said, he's risking himself to entertain people, going into unnecessary wars.

                      What if? What if?....

What if Cotto would've been KD instead of KO'd and came back and ripped Corley's head off. Ha? What if?...lol..
