yeah, but the fact is, who is Branco?

I may be wrong. But if you look at it at the point of logic, you're also not exactly right.

Cotto's division is ripe with top competition. I'm not impressed with an undefeated record. What impresses me are wins against elites. It's been years since Cotto has yet to step up.

There's Hatton, Margarito, PBF. Man! When will he ever fight them.

Although I think we can both postpone both out judgements on Cotto as either a fake or an elite. DO we agree that Cotto needs to step up soon and prove his worth.

Do we agree that Cotto's status whether he is elite or a fake will depend upon whether he comes out on top against elites?

Can we agree on those points macho?

Give the 25 year old some more time and more fights before we say that he is done or is on his way out. Cotto still has several years in boxing.
Even though I'm P-rican, I don't want Cotto to have more time, for what? He needs to step his game up. Why aren't they putting him in or trying to find him a fight with: Hatton, Margarito, Mayweather, Castillo, Coralles anyone that is recognizable and is known to be a good fighter. Not someone who has a good record because they never left their country.

Reason why Cotto ain't fighting anyone besides Paulie now? Floyd took that ****** judah fight. Hatton's fighting someone on May Castillo still has his fight with Corrales. Margarito is a welterweight (Cotto wants to have atleast 2 more fights in light welter.) So what can you do? Be easy his big fight will come this year. With the likes of JLC,Gatti or maybe Hatton. Cotto's resume isn't all good or all that bad. Cotto has faced good fighters!

dont we all want exciting fights-with suspense and drama? i mean watching cotto get hurt by corley and torres only to come back and win is what champs are made of. why does every fight have to be a complete domination? cotto's response to adversity, ie holding on and coming back to win, at a young age and to not panic shows courage, will, and heart- sure they are matchmaking him now with branco and mal but he deserved a break from a tough fight after the war w/ torres
also consider- fighting mal also affords cotto the opporunity to gain in ring experience who uses alot of movement

As for the article.... only one word describes it....Biased.
Exactly as you and Macho put it, a very biased article. Champions come back after getting rocked to win. What this proves is how well conditioned cotto is and how he is able to shake it off and relax to get back into the fight. Some fighters after getting rocked once tend to lose confidence, not cotto, he will collect himself and eventually KO your ass.

              **** Jim Cawkwell

"Cotto is damaged goods", "Branco appeared every bit of what he was: a thirty-five-year-old European level boxer"

              ***in Hater...

Branco was a fighter who, up to last weeks fight, had never been stopped. He's a decent fighter who basically lacks much power. But you can't knock Cotto too much over choosing Branco. Cotto, IMO, had a pretty tough 2005 that most people don't even know about as far as who his opponents were.

Everyone thinks that someone can be perfect. It's impossible to be perfect. When you are boxing eventually gonna get rocked if you make a mistake. That's what Cotto did he made a mistake and he payed for it but yet he came back strong and won those two fights. **** them ni99as talking **** about "If you get rocked you have no chin" suck my ****! lol

Might not have a chin but has a big heart and that it self is a good gift.

I'd pay to see Cotto, Pacquiao, and Corrales fight ANY DAY. These are the superstars of boxing.
