Hopkins literally has no chance. Anyone clamoring about him is either fooled or hasn't watched him in the last 3 years.

This will be an interesting fight. Everyone sleeping on Bhop but kovalev is a technical boxer believe it or not. He does not have that dirty mauling physical style to beat a crafty, dirty, technical boxer like hopkins. Kovalev can be set up because of his style. He can become predictable. The crazy power that sergey carries is what makes this fight interesting.

Or they just know boxing. Hopkins has been in the ring with hard punchers before. He is going to make Sergei keep resetting his feet with lateral movement. Has he been in the ring with anyone on the same planet as Hopkins, the answer is no.

I kind of disagree. If things aren't going Bernard's way he tends to make the fight very ugly and awkward and use the referee and that's not Kovalev's style at all. He likes to trade and might not know what to do with Bernard faking fouls and **** like he did with Jones (and he was WINNING that one).

Just going for that KO out of the gate might be a better strategy with this old man.

Why is his heart in question? His toughness should never be questioned.
We've never seen Kovalev taken into deep water or seen how he responds to adversity.

You'd think it was Victor Ortiz stepping in there
Because Hopkins always acts like a pansy when someone roughs him up or plays his dirty game. If Kovalev comes out and looks like he actually has a chance to **** Hopkins up, Hopkins will start faking low blows and faking rabbit punches and doing everything he can to get the ref to start admonishing Kovalev.

He won't quit, but if Kovalev proves to be a real threat Hopkins will fight like a b*tch, because he usually does when someone's a real threat.

No. Hopkins has a very good chance. I bet you were saying the same thing when he fought Pavlik too right? It's okay, I didn't think he was going to win that one either. And I have watched a few Hopkins fights in the past 3 years and he's shown that he can still mix it up, even when he doesn't need to, he plays with his opponents and makes a show out of it. Hopkins has faced big punchers before, its nothing new. He's been in this sport for what, 25 years? I'm pretty sure he's seen it all and Kovalev isn't gonna bring anything new to the table. The only thing that's ever given Hopkins trouble before is speed. Chad Dawson had fast hands, and unless Kovalev can match that speed, he'll lose.

And yes, Kovalev needs to treat Hopkins like an old man. Absolutely the best strategy he can use. Don't wait around, don't show respect, go out there to hurt him.

Oh and another thing, I've looked at Kovalev's records, he's only seen the 8th round once in his entire career and most of his fights only last 2 or 3 rounds. I'd like to see what his tank looks like in the championship rounds. We're gonna find out.

But he beat Pavlik a lifetime ago, and according to some Kovalev and Pavlik are one and the same.
