Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has very high expectations for a potential fight between WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32 KOs) and former junior middleweight champ Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 32 KOs).
Last September, Canelo's PPV with Floyd Mayweather Jr. topped 2.2 million buys on Showtime. De La Hoya has since moved Canelo over to HBO, with a May fight against Cotto as the primary target for 2015. De La Hoya expects a number around the 2 million mark for Canelo vs. Cotto.

Depends on the price imo. If you keep it reasonable given where both are at right now-say $39.99- $49.99, I think it can do 1 mil or so.
It's going to be hard to get casual US sports fans to buy this fight.
It won't even do a million.. Neither one of them do big numbers when they're the draw.. Sure you'll have a gang of puerto ricans and Mexicans buying the fight but the hardcore & casual fans that come from the black and white demographic won't be into it as much and that's where the drop off occurs.. A lot of people think Canelo is trash because of how mayweather did him and cotto beating Martinez is only impressive to hardcore boxing fans..
Fights does over 1 million. When they headline by themselves they might not get big numbers but put them together and you get something special, like PB and Jelly.
