Ricky Hatton was still loved in the UK of course he just wasnt the same fighter after that, the hype died down a bit and his undefeated record was gone.
Tennis is massively popular around the world. Not only that, women and men watch it, unlike bxing.

Id bet Ricky Hatton's house on Djokovic being more well known than Mayweather. It probably isnt even close.

**** man, I've been around Mexico and two years ago 8/10 Mexicans didn't know who the **** Mayweather was. They all knew Pac.

If you are from Europe then you will know that no one knows Mayweather either, both Klitschkos are by far the more known fighters in mainland Europe East or West. Its enough to bring up "Ukraine" and people say "Oh Klitschko Klitschko"

Mayweather is an American celebrity. There is no reason for people to know him outside of US. He has zero endorsements and no one watches his fights live there because 1) No PPV 2) Its 5AM there no one is waking up to watch anything at that time.
This is also true. My non boxinv friends immediately know who Klitschko is. Mayweather is not a global star. He's an American star. In most of Europe and the UK people are not up watching a fight at 5am. Most mayweather fights are now shown on boxnation which isn't ppv.

Thats pretty much it, Ali and Tyson are the only world famous boxer that everyone and their parent knew from day 1, no one else comes close. Oscar de la hoya can walk through a crowded UK and no one would know who he is unless they are a boxing fan who follow the sport.

But wait, we will get some links to some US based websites where they show Payton Manning, Derrick Jeter, and Floyd as TOP10 most globally recognized athletes.

I'll bet all that I have that no one outside of US/Canada knows who Payton or Jeter is...

Next time someone is going to claim that Bo Jackson is a world famous athlete.

I bet Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby are more well known than Mayweather.

Mayweather should feel refreshed by the fact that he runs into a lady who is not some gold digging Ho looking to take his money. He would be lucky to find a lady that way for himself some day because if she doesn't know who he is, she wont be trying to get him based on money and fame. She'd be real.

Why are people catching feelings over a middle-aged Jamaican woman in London not knowing who an American boxer is?

13 pages of Floyd fanatics spewing conspiracy theories and crying over it? You dudes take this **** waaaaaaaay to seriously. It's bordering on creepy.

Djokovic is a name most people will recognise with tennis, even if you don't watch it. I hate tennis, watched it once and still know his name

He is FAR more famous than Floyd Mayweather, I really don't know how you can claim otherwise, especially knowing that Boxing is practically a niche sport in most areas of the world
