However, most of the reason why Clottey was handcuffed like that against Pac was because of footspeed - Margarito actually blew away Pac in output against Clottey at 1600+ total, but that fight was competitive, fought in a phone booth a lot of the time, and had great exchanges.

Even though Canelo will get to tee off and likely set his own personal record... because he doesn't move and punch, he is going to be getting quite of skill coming back at him, especially left hooks... and with his stamina it makes it interesting.

Heading into a Cotto fight..fighting someone with great left hooks is important measuring stick imo. I wouldn't have minded southpaw Kirkland either for similar reasons but this is an upgrade in skill in all actuality.

I know Clottely is known for blowing fights, but the potenial is also there with Canelo until he shows his stamina issues have been ironed out.
I don't think it was foot speed. Clottey shells up all the time. He did it against Margarito. It actually has much more to do with activity.

If you like Clottey you should get at least 5-1 odds, and it probably will be closer to 10-1.

Canelo been fighting some good opponents lately. I'm expecting him to win than to face Cotto early next year. Don't know how anyone could hate Canelo, he doesn't duck anyone.

Terrible fight. Clottey has nothing to offer Canelo and everything to gain from the fight.
A lose lose for Canelo. Might as well have pulled a Cotto and taken the rest of the year off.

A Clottey win would be disastrous for a lot of plans. I think Josh has an uphill climb here.

Yeah activity is the factor, but is that what Canelo is known for or something? He got in the ring with Floyd ****ing Mayweather and played cute.

And there are different sorts of activity. Footspeed is relevant when comparing how activity is administered between a Pac and a Margarito. The location of the fighters at any given time couldn't be more different. The style of those two fights Pac-Clottey and Marg-Clottey were different..Clottey got off against Margarito much more than he did against Pac. He won more round against Margarito. Margarito was always right there.

Canelo will mostly be right there too. But the point is...he won't be sniffing the punch outputs of Pac or Margarito. 513 total punches through the 10th against Angulo who allowed him to tee off. I want to say his career high was against Shane at about 700.

Canelo's stamina and lukewarm output should give plenty of time for Clottey to punch in between and make good exchanges and a good fight.

Yeah I don't think Canelo has the activity but my point was that it isn't just foot speed that throws Clottey off. In fact, I don't think it's foot speed at all. Just activity and also being able to stand up to his attack. He tends to go in a shell when you do that. He did that with Baldomir, Margarito, Pacquiao and strangely enough, even with Corrales to an extent.

They are not going to risk losing a Cotto fight.
