Lacking enough money to buy food to eat in a single day is not discomfort. This is something essential to life, it is a basic necessity. That alone throws your argument out the window. As I said before, unless you have your own farm, or are already self-sufficient, money is a necessity. Needing enough money to take care of basic necessities is beyond just bringing 'comfort.' It is a matter of life and death. Happiness can't even come into play without this.

Floyd obviously has lots of issues...pride/vanity, materialism, greed, anger, etc. But, I have issues with Pac always bringing up god, as if that's the only reason anyone should be scared from doing bad things. It's also highly patronizing to say that you pity someone and that you're going to pray for them. I give Pac somewhat of a pass because of his harsh upbringing and lack of education. But, he should know better.Comment

Basic needs like food, clothing & shelter are essential to physical health. But once the body isn't sick or in discomfort, then it is true that happiness is a mindset. Society collectively disparaging a person for not having enough material may also be mentally taxing on the individual, which I think is a major problem as well. Everyone wanting to be "better" than everyone else and money & material always seems to be the measuring stick, especially in American culture.Lacking enough money to buy food to eat in a single day is not discomfort. I am not arguing against the basic needs level being met. I am not saying that you don't have to have some basic needs met to be comfortable, it is the economical levels at or past that point where happiness is defined. No one is happy if they are sick, hungry, or homeless. Once everyone has basic needs met, when you separate two or three groups at or after their basic needs are met, you have the categories of people who don't have a lot, and those who are wealthy, and those in the middle. It is within these categories that indicate that there is no particular group that stands out as being happier. It comes down to a host of items that fit the category of necessity which is rudimentary comfort and after that when the economical lines separate, happiness does not extend to a particular group. Taking it one step further, even people who don't have all their basic needs met, they may still have general health which is a greater precursor to some form of happiness over a rich person who is about to get word from his doctor that he will not live another 6 months unless he changes his lifestyle and maybe not even if he changes his lifestyle. But at generic comfort levels with basics met, there is no happiness curve for one group over the other.Lacking enough money to buy food to eat in a single day is not discomfort. it's like chasing the wind!i've worked around multi-millionaires in a job i had in 2009 and they were depressed with every negative market change, always stressed, working themselves into diseases, abandoning their families working late, and some wind up ill and in the case of one guy, he could not cure his disease will all the money he had and died in 2011. It is a complete myth that rich people are happier than others and studies prove this. Even the ones with all the toys want the latest toy and that toy is not good enough when it is a day old because there is a new one coming out soon and the chase begins again. Till they run themselves into the ground.Comment

Cong**** on making one of the dumbest statements on these boards! A), don't even put Pac's name in reference with a mass murderer. B), There have been gang members who turned their lives around, became stellar citizens, working with today's youth teaching them right from wrong, contributing to society, became authors, artists, spokespersons, etc. Take a seat son and learn something about human behavior and personal change before sounding like a complete idiot with your blanket statement.spoken like a true religious cherry picker.
