No one is dis*****g that. The fact is, money and happiness are not mutually dependent. People who are shallow or lack education or immature don't understand happiness from a psychological standpoint from people on both sides of the wealth spectrum.Comment

You can be happy without money. It's that those that are not happy, desire material things. Learn how to not live off of material items and your life will be better.Comment

I've worked around multi-millionaires in a job I had in 2009 and they were depressed with every negative market change, always stressed, working themselves into diseases, abandoning their families working late, and some wind up ill and in the case of one guy, he could not cure his disease will all the money he had and died in 2011. It is a complete myth that rich people are happier than others and studies prove this. Even the ones with all the toys want the latest toy and that toy is not good enough when it is a day old because there is a new one coming out soon and the chase begins again. Till they run themselves into the ground.Last edited by richardt; 09-29-2014, 12:27 PM.Comment

You cannot even stay alive without money (unless you have your own farm or you're basically indigenous). Everything has a price. The difference is, money itself doesn't necessarily bring happiness. But it prevents a whole gang of things that can cause unhappiness.Comment

He is not saying without any money at all, although some live in the country sustain entirely on the barter system without cash. But the cases of rich and poor being synonymous with happiness are something like 49% to 51% which hugely illustrates that wealth and happiness are not unbilically synonymous. I have yet to see money cure depression or terminal illness in others or simply make them truly happy.Comment

You have not sampled society enough then. Someone who has been unemployed gets introduced into tons of problems, from being evicted out of their home, lack of food, nutrition, stress, depression, etc. Something that didn't exist when they had a job, in essence money. People die everyday simply because they lack money (they can't afford the medical bill, etc). It's unfortunate. He is not saying without any money at all, although some live in the country sustain entirely on the barter system without cash. Again, money itself doesn't bring happiness to your doorstep. But being it's at the core of a functioning society, you cannot live happily without it either. You need just enough wherever you are, to give balance to your life. It is mutually dependent, unless you're one of those who are self-sufficient (indigenous, have your own farm, off-the-grid type of people, etc). Money is a protection against unhappiness, prevents many issues, even though it doesn't necessarily bring happiness either.Comment
