Indeed. I realise this sort of thing washes fine with many historical zealots.

But I also know that these days such tripe isn't taken as gospel anymore. Most people require reasonable doubt. So happens that these statements don't hold up to criticism even slightly.

Nobody free thinking can possibly watch Brewster and then Louis and conclude that Louis could actually win.

What's more, even just a cursory examination shows Lamon Brewster fought much better competition than Joe Louis.

    They were much larger.
And they had much better records.

Joe Louis never once fought in his entire career anybody as hard chinned, as power punching and as skilled combined as Lamon Brewster.

If you can argue against that last statement^^^ (and I know it would be false) I would like to know who the hell you had in mind.

Just in case anybody new to boxing is tuning in to this thread, I would like to save you the trouble of investigating the 2 boxers in question here.

This^ is an image of Lamon Brewster, "no stronger than the average HW of 80 years ago" according to our old friend Mr. New England here.

And let's take a look at Joe Louis..

Any debate over this topic should be shot down and finished right there.

In fact, anybody still willing to argue that Louis belongs within 50 places of Lamon Brewster in a HW h2h match up should be submitted for immediate drug testing.

ahh, yes. take a look at these pictures, and pick who you think would win. highly logical.

brewster builds his body upw ith weights, eats too much and gets a bit flabby, weighs 15ish lbs more, and is somehow insurmountably larger.

brewster and louis were the same size. 6'2", 77 inch reach. brewster was 225 when he stopped wladimir. louis was 200-215 at his peak.

Louis was 205 lbs average. Brewster came in LIGHT at 225lbs for Wladimir.

The bone structure says it all man.

The guy has a head and jaw of granite, visibly and in practice. He has fists larger than Louis's head.

How can you not see that?

Put it this way. If you looked like Joe Louis and you came across someone like Brewster would you really want to fight him?

We are not talking about Carnera, Baer or Simon here. We are talking about a skilled boxer who gives relentless pressure, hits like a truck, possessed immense stamina and punch resistance.

Weight lifting? Who gives a **** HOW he achieved what he is. His KO capacity speaks for itself! It's not Brewster's fault that Joe Louis was born 50 years too early for boxing to rise out of the dark ages of sports science!

As per usual, a perfectly fine thread gets ruined by Elroy's (HWeightblogger, Tommo1) constant idiocy.

How is the thread ruined? And I do believe you kicked off the comparisons.

I was HAPPY to leave this stuff out of it. It's not my fault you or your friends choose to post obviously faulty comments. There has to be some voice of reason in response.

Your mate there dodged the question anyway.

I asked him who Louis fought who was better than Lamon Brewster? No response!

Joe Louis could do well at cruiserweight today.

Agreed. Joe Louis, as he was, I believe would have done well at CW today. He was quite well rounded enough!!

I miss "The rules". I used to love reading that in threads that were taken over by Klitards. But I appreciate that that was directed towards Lennox Lewis.

Maybe one of you alts can draw up a version for Joe Louis?
I'd love to read a copy and paste about how he couldn't handle Lamon Brewster and how Wlad would have him eating through a straw.

Are you trying to imply that Louis would beat Vladimir?
