Canelo returns to HBO in December, likely against former welterweight champion Joshua Clottey. If he is successful, De La Hoya will sit down with the necessary parties to discuss the possibility of Canelo facing Cotto for the WBC middleweight crown on Cinco De Mayo weekend.

Came here to post something similar. I'm very skeptical about this fight happening because of that reason. Another reason is the fact that Cotto will fight early in 2015 which might interfere with a May showdown with Canelo.

As a fan of boxing, it's justified to be skeptical and pessimistic, so with that said I really hope this fight actually happens. At the moment, it just seems to good to be true.

Bob won't allow it to happen once again. Especially since he knows Mayweather needs a dance partner to secure a solid PPV headline that would without a doubt beat Alvarez vs Cotto or Chavez Jr. Bob isn't going to help Mayweather keep his May date...

On top of that Bob isn't going to feed Pac to Mayweather, just yet. Let a lone guys like Thruman, Brook, Porter, or even Alvarez, Lara, and Trout. Or since everyone keeps talking about how welter weights need to fight middle weights, we should mention GGG.

But no, we will get Pac vs Bradley III, JMM V or some in house fighter who doesn't even fight at welter weight and is a completely irrelevant and will probably take place in China or Texas and bomb.

Meanwhile, I can picture Floyd offering Cotto a bigger purse to fight him in May. Cotto is in a great spot atm. Pac won't even look at him unless there is a catch to it. I can see Hoya and Mayweather at a bidding war to get Cotto for May... lol
