How, or better yet why should clinching benefit me at all? I am a fan, a spectator of the sport. I am not the one fighting.

Maybe Rios and Chavez would win more if they started clinching more often instead of getting tagged and having their heads blown back like ragdolls.

As far as I'm concerned Povetkin and Porter are still undefeated fighters. They weren't beaten as a result of boxing skill but rather by not being allowed to fight on the inside against taller men.

The second Maidana-Mayweather fight is another example, although it was not as bad as the above examples. Also, Bayless was the ref, and he seems to think boxing consists purely of outfighting.

But he isn't fighting for his life, he is clinching, that's not fighting..

James toney is a great defender and never needed to clinch..

And Sweet Pea is widely considered one of hte best defensive fighters ever. And he clinched pretty often. Guess we should take away all of his achievements then.

                It wasn't for his clinching.

Exactly,, sweet pea hardly clinched and never used repeatedly for a tactical advantage... P used movement with the head, legs and torso..

I don't think anyone cares about the occasional clinch, but when used repeatedly for a tactical advantage it basically ruins the fight...

It's like in basketball before they had the shot clock, and teams would run out the clock with the four corner offense,,, it's an effective strategy but totally ruins the game..

Nothing but the truth. It's not boxing and there is no sweet science crap that goes with it.
