That could be. But when you look a little deeper into it, the only people who have really benefited from the 6 fight contract are Floyd and his opponents. Showtime is supposedly not making any money. It could very well be that they recognize that Mayweather's contract was a bad investment and they've reached a point where they realize the only way to generate a return on their investment is to reach across the aisle and work with HBO and Bob Arum.

Arum has been making noise about the networks willing to co-promote. Jim Gray, an obvious professional who knows which questions to ask putting Floyd on the spot. It really does look like serious negotiations are underway and the pressure was put on Floyd to address the issue, and the pressure is also on Pacquiao to get through ALgieri.

Anyway, the question (the way he sorta came with it) seemed fairly contrived and Mayweather's two answers did too. Particularly the whole "Pacquiao has a fight to concentrate on bit." If it wasn't contrived then those were surprisingly good responses by Floyd.
I liked that answer too and honestly was encouraged by the way he phrased it. I didn't see it as contrived because the rest of his interview seemed off... he seemed down on himself and was not as defensive as usual imo. IDK how to explain it but that wasn't the typical response

But why would Showtime fire him if Jim's question would ultimately result in monumental profits for Showtime?

I'm just an observer too TS but I'd be surprised if both networks aren't involved. Buffer and Lennon will be there. Tecate and Corona. Seems like everyone will get a piece of it..except Ellerbe. Poor guy

Let's be rational here. A question isn't going to result in monumental profits.

Yeah seemed genuine. Lots of hurdles though.

Why wouldnt the answer seem contrived, they've both been asked this a million + times, Thats the answer Floyd has been giving and Pac's is "talk to my promoter" Floyd called Manny and Manny declined to accept, because he wants more money. There is a video of Manny talking about the phone call and him declining the fight and why. Its Manny talking so its his words. Plain and simple

Either way, I'm glad Gray asked some good questions. I don't think it means much. And, on the other hand, I can't help but wonder if Arum is making up negotiations again.
