Hopkins gets hit a lot more at this stage of his career, it's also damn near impossible to avoid kovalev's well placed body shots. Hopkins is an ATG and crafty as **** but this is too much.

As dangerous as Kovalev is, I still see Hopkins neutralizing his power and making the fight boring, winning a close decision. I just can't picture Hopkins getting knocked out.

Floyds dad fought SRL, so you will not be able to give me any valid reason or excuse why Floyd cant fight the equivalent dangerous fight as his pa pa did at the very least.
You are confused - Kovalev and Hopkins are in the same weight class. Mayweather Sr. and Sugar Ray Leonard where in the same weight class - Floyd and GGG are not in the same weight class, Floyd comes in on fight night at 148 / 149 - GGG comes into fight night weighing 175+ - He is a much bigger man.

Go on Boxrec and search Floyd Mayweather's career. look at who he has faced, and look where a lot of the fighters he so called ducked are now, Its the fighters career, if they get hurt or get damaged and have to retire what is anyone on any of these forums going to do for them? They are forgotten until brought up again, fans are just as selfish as the fighters they try to discredit and ridicule.

I don't know what took place between Roach and Hopkins but Roach seems to always pick against him. Seems like a 50 Cent / Floyd type relationship.

That's because people want to see Floyd get hurt/seriously injured. I don't hear or see people calling for any other fighter to get into a fight with this big of a size mis-match.

If Kovalev wins it will be by KO. I don't see it happening any other way. Nevertheless, props to Pops for even taking this fight. It makes 12-13 year younger Floyd look like a real phony.
That's what I'm saying. B-hop deserves mad respect for not only taking this fight but he wanted it.That's how it used to be back in the day. That's like Floyd asking to fight GGG and we all know that would never happen.

Stop whining and crying over Floyd. Boxing is the "Hurting Business". If you're afraid of getting hurt, get out. Nobody has hand picked and been more strategic about WHO they fight and WHEN they fight them, as Floyd. Open up his resume and see all the lead with your chin, one dimensional guys, flat footed, plodding forward(most Latino fighters) he beat claiming a belt, in a day and age when there has never been more belt holders. Floyd's record/opponents is nowhere as impressive as Oscar Dela Hoya's or Shane Mosley's. Not even close. Oscar & Shane fought the baddest guys in the sport in their prime, multiple times if need be. Floyd made Cotto & Mosley wait 10 yrs to fight. To this day, Floyd has made Manny wait 6 years. Oscar fought Shane twice, Vargas twice, Trinidad, Ike Quartey, a much bigger Bernard Hopkins. Shane fought Vernon Forrest & Winky Wright, much larger Hall of Famers twice each, all in their prime. Floyd has been all about marketing a "0". He fought Oscar in his prime, most felt Oscar won the fight, so much so, Floyd was offered $25M for a rematch and they heard crickets from Floyd.

                      Hopkins in trouble here

Roach is right. This will be Hopkins' Waterloo. He picked the wrong dude. He views Kovalev as another limited white fighter. It's what Hopkins does, he can't help himself. But Kovalev is nothing like the rum soaked bones of an out of his weight class Kelly Pavlik. Kovalev can win by decision or KO. But I lean towards the KO unless Hopkins manages to navigate a successful survival strategy. This is not analogous to Floyd vs GGG. I think Floyd is a ducker but he gets a pass from me on GGG. He's way too big. BHOP and Kovalev are in the same division and are virtually the same weight, height and dimensions.
