Comments Thread For: Roach Tabs Kovalev: Hopkins Bit Off Too Much Here!

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach views Bernard Hopkins (55-6, 32KOs) as a good friend, but that doesn't stop him from picking Sergey Kovalev (25-0-1, 23KOs) to defeat Hopkins on November 8th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. They will battle for the WBO/IBF/WBA light heavyweight titles.

Hopkins, nearly 50-years-old, is called "The Alien" because he continues to defy the laws of science by defeating top fighters who are young enough to be his kids.

This worries me a little. Roach also said Haye would KO Wlad. He is Teddy Atlas 2.

Whenever Roach makes a prediction it's wise to put your money on the other guy. BHOP by decision.

I think the only way Hopkins wins by a fix is if somehow Kovalev is disqualified for questionable low blows. If the fight goes the distance, Hopkins wins. That's his territory. If Kovalev wins it will be by KO. I don't see it happening any other way. Nevertheless, props to Pops for even taking this fight. It makes 12-13 year younger Floyd look like a real phony.

Nah that's definitely Teddy Atlas. Roach is a better trainer than he is an oddsmaker but he's not at Teddy Atlas levels of ultimate wrongness.

Its brave of BH to fight him, but if he wins somethings not right. FLoyd was too scared to fight GGG and that would be equivalent of BH fighting Kovalev.

Floyd is younger than BH and is at this stage of his career better than BH, don't mention to me Floyd is 2 divisions lower, that is an excuse.
Floyds dad fought SRL, so you will not be able to give me any valid reason or excuse why Floyd cant fight the equivalent dangerous fight as his pa pa did at the very least.
