This thread was going well i thought, lot's of interesting posts. until it turned into another Mayweather vs Pacquiao thread. There is already plenty of them on the forum.
Yahoo did their own list not so long ago..i'm not sure if was posted in this thread. Their list was 'best ever' and not 'Since World War II' like the main list in this thread.
The guys voting were :
Jim Lampley, Max Kellerman, Al Bernstein, Steve Farhood, Rich Marotta, Lou DiBella, Chris Middendorf, Tim Dahlberg, Ed Schuyler Jr, Cliff Rold, Kevin Iole.
* The list was made before Mayweather Vs Pacquiao was done and dusted.Comment

Manny & Floyd?...Neither one belongs on a top twenty list from 1940's thru the 2000....
Sorry their a figment of todays fans imaginations.
One guy is an undefeated no power runner who picks his opponents. The other an example of how a base pressure fighter can succeed in an era when
playing "checkers boxing" can be lucrative with a great promoter and matchmakers who pull out all the stops.
Their biggest success is at 147 and neither is an ATG fighter at that weight.
Go down to the other classes and be objective and they won't be in the top five spots anywhere.
Were they great in their era? Yes! Can they compete against past greats and dominate? ...........................not to me! They could be top fifteen maybe twenty but at 130 they both are overwhelmed by Ike Williams Bea Jack can't outbox Benny Lenard! Robinson KO's both in the same night at 147.
The greats of this era, right now are not ATG's sorry but their one dimentional
talents and right now thats good enough, against the high skills of fighters who have dimention they get out boxed or beat up and with some BOTH!
What NO Wlad???????? hahahaha he's driving their cab...Last edited by Ray Corso; 07-06-2015, 06:10 PM.Comment

Why is Joe Calzaghe not on that list? That is mind blowing. Not having Joe on that list destroys its creditability.
And I would have Ezzard Charles higher.Comment

Seems like boxing writers always favor older era fighters. Great fighters all, but for example prime Pac would dazzle Armstrong..Bernard Hopkins would box circles around Ezzard Charles..Comment

Yeah, according to the list, Floyd is like the 6th best fighter to fight at Welterweight, which feels about right.Comment
