Quillin pocketed 500k from Haymon to sidestep Korobov

Dude didn't want to defend his title and took the clear easy way out of a defense in which there is always a possibility of losing to no namer in Korobov.
Call it what you want but Quillin chose not to defend his belt. In fact he decided to no longer call himself a champion.

you don't control what people like. I agree with your description of the fight, that doesn't mean everyone saw it that way. Face it-some people (mostly the mainstream middle class casual fan that buys fights) seems to want to see Floyd fight whomever, same as it used to be for pac. The drop in numbers for both suggests the tide is turning.
Real fans don't steal fights illegally.
In my opinion, if someone can't afford subs for a sports channel, then allow them watch boxing however they want, it's better than not watching it at all.

Even if this is true (as seems fairly likely) and not just BS or even damage limitation, I find myself sincerely hoping that this scheme backfires in some way.
Quillins actions are kinda contemptible but understandable, Haymon OTOH is looking more and more like a cancer in the sport.
It's an unpredictable sport and sometimes things just don't go to plan - ask Stevenson about the Hopkins payday that Haymon was gonna get him. There is no fights for Quillin for which $1.5mil wouldn't be absurdly overpaying him and I have to wonder if Quillin hasn't simply been lied to or at least misled.

his issues are promotional, not talent based. you probably can't distinguish between the skills and abilities of the two fighters because ward slips punches faster than your uninformed mind can process boxing information.

Even after paying his team he still would've made about $1mill for the Korobov fight and had the chance to keep his title. Then the Jacobs fight for the inflated Haymon amount still would've been there afterwards.
By choosing the safe route - Quillin lost $500k, his title, and tarnished his brand. All that said, I favored Korobov over Quillin, and it looks like Peter & Al did too.

You compared Quillin to Scotland because in your delusional, biased mind Scots are cowards for not voting "yes" in the independence poll.
Quillin is a coward so this analogy would be accurate if Scots were, in fact, cowards but they are not. But I won't hold that against you since your knowledge of Scottish history (or history of any other country than USA for that matter) ends on "Braveheart".
Atlantis is a mythical land, just like Andre Ward is a mythical fighter because nobody really knows if he actually is a boxer. Come Novemeber, he'll be inactive for a year and that's when he should be removed from all P4P lists.
Face it, your boy is commentator now and not a good one either.
Now could you please stop talking to me because reading your egomaniacal, biased posts is about as entertaining as Andre Ward's fights.Last edited by Szef; 09-20-2014, 09:55 AM.
