Wladimir Klitschko: Joshua has one of the greatest potentials I have ever seen

Undisputed heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko, was on ringside today and talked about the experience of having Anthony Joshua in camp.

    Amongst other things he said:

    - He has one of the greatest potentials he's ever seen in a heavyweight
    - He's willing to learn
    - He's technically a very good boxer and has transitioned well into the pros

Klitschko is obviously someone Anthony Joshua should and probably does look up to a great deal. If he can take some of the things on board that Wladimir is willing to give teach, he can have a great career.

    Have a look:

Wladimir Klitschko says Anthony Joshua has got the potential to be one of the true heavyweight greats.

    Saw that.

A lot of people said the same about David Price though.

Did they? I don't remember them saying that stuff, and certainly not coming from Klitschko or someone like that.

I mean, I like Price, he's from my howntown and I've met him on several occasions, but Joshua is clearly a bigger talent than Pricey.

Anthony Joshua is indeed the next big thing and has all the tools to become the next great HW, I believe.

AJ seems to be a very smart kid as well and if he stays in future Wlad camps, he couldn't receive greater experience and knowledge.

You're a scouser? Accent the lot? Am I going to have to read your posts In a Scouse accent now?

But yeah, a whole lot of people said that about Price. A whole lot. Not sure if Klitschko himself but Manny Steward and many others in the Boxing world. Basically everything I hear about Joshua now I heard about Price.

Not comparing them, just pointing that out.

I'm far from sold on Joshua though.

I'd love to see a Wilder-Joshua fight in the future granted they both stay on winning paths.

But from the eye-test you would think Joshua is going to be the next ATG with his physique, posture, power, and speed.

Has Anthony Joshua been knocked down in the pros or ams?

Well I'm from Birkenhead - My accent is not totally scouse like Pricey's is, but you'd be able to hear that i'm from Merseyside quite clearly. I actually grew up very close to where Paul McCartney's house was. I also lived in Denmark for years and also currently, so my accent has been influenced a bit from that as well.

Ah ok, I do remember a lot of people saying that, even myself! Not that he was the next great thing, but I definitely thought he'd do a lot better than he has. But I think everyone knew his chin wasn't too good. He's too stiff though.

AJ is on a whole other level I think.

He gave high praise to Deontay Wilder as well.

I am not sold on Joshua hes a bit Bruno esque minus the power.

Almost a big, sluggish version of Kell Brook.
Then again its probably all that is needed to exceed in what is truly a pathetically weak HW scene. I mean look at Wilder & how far size, power and some careful matchmaking can take you.
Be interesting to see how he develops but as of right now I don't see 'great' potential.
